He almost left coaching after the '81 National Championship to be the lead analyst for CBS.

That puts the first weekend even further ahead of the Masters as the best event in sportsdom.

trust me, i know. i've had the honor of meeting him several times.

it would be more of a just in case type deal. there's always the chance for somebody to say or do something stupid.

good, I know you enjoyed it. He's very down to earth, unbelievably sharp and funny as he can be.

my first encounter i have been told, as i was too young to remember, involved him and some guy who was playing for UNC at the time in the student union on the Bloomington campus. i was told the mystery guy was the one who wore the number 23, but i can neither confirm or deny that. i think he was there at that time for some Olympic team function.

that's a cool story (except for the "I was too young to remember" part, which steals a lot of the thunder)

yeah, i know. i have no reason to think that my parents would lie to me about it.

my great aunt and uncle are donors and my parents alumni to IU, in addition to other friends and family that went there. they would always take me with them to alumni/donor functions. it's not hard to see why IU people were so loyal to him despite his public persona.

I cannot think of a more knowledgable person. I hope they are getting rid of one of the morons. I'm looking forward to hearing his views and insights.

:eek:lol: I must assume you also subscribe to the lunar landings being actually played out on a Hollywood set syndrome.

hopefully this just a weak attempt at a joke and not what you actually believe. you could not be more wrong if it is.

I don't think he is a terrible guy all the way around but you can't argue that he hasn't thrown some pretty childish fits and done some stupid things over the years. Maybe he has some rare form of Tourets Syndrome that hasn't been identified yet!

he has absolutely let his temper get away from him and he'll be the first to make that clear, but he's won't in the media because of how they've portrayed him over the years. He has often done what he believed best for individuals and those individuals / the media have disagreed with him. Villified him in the process. Miles the moron simply made it all worse and IU is now going to pay the piper. Contrary to what we most think, I'm certain it pains Knight to see IU struggle this way.

The guy's an educator, philanthropist, near dad to many players, etc., but above all, he's a very bright and surprisingly caring guy.

I loved how he ducked and dodged Mike and Mike this morning when Greeny tried to ask him about (anything) involving Indiana. Vintage Bobby Knight. Anybody else catch that? He is one of my favorites.

now that I see this on my laptop, it's clear to me that I'm a blithering idiot when posting from my handheld.
