. . . . what would you have said if you were the AD and were being interviewed on the radio 2 days before the NCAA tourney and someone asked you, "Will Bruce Pearl be your coach next year?"

I'm honestly asking because my perception of what must have been running through Hamilton's mind has changed.

You have to decline the interview until after were eliminated knowing a question like that would come up.

Agreed . . . Terrible timing . . . But you can't say he wasn't honest.

If you grant the interview then make it clear that you won't answer questions about pearls future or NCAA sanctions.

"As a University we're focusing on the NCAA tournament and supporting our student athletes. I have full confidence that Bruce has the ability to and will motivate our players. Bruce has had to deal with a lot this year, but he's still a motivator. We're as good as anyone in the country, and I'm looking forward to a deep tournament run."

He should have just danced around the question. JMO

I agree. Grant the interview to show support but do not answer questions about Pearl.

No comment would of been the best answer

No comment would have gotten the same result as what was actually said because he had supported him up until that point. Just delay the interview problem solved.

I agree that just about the only viable option would be to decline an interview. Any wiggling or refusal to comment would have provoked the same s*&@storm.

Don't decline the interview itself, just the questions surrounding the program until after they were eliminated

I think he said exactly what he meant and that was the purpose of the interview....

I don't have a problem with it. He was simply avoiding the shock of a complete 180 on the fanbase. At the time it irked the dogshirt out of me, but after further review and knowing what happened, I now think it was ok for him to come out and say it. Bruce did it to himself and he killed our post-season hopes, not MH. MH was backed into a corner on this one and all the people demanding his head on a post... I don't think you will get your wish, and I think MH should and will get a chance at redemption. I just hope he has learned how to be a better judge of character in addition to coaching ability.
