"I want to see us get to a contending level," he told The Los Angeles Times. "I want to see us become a championship contender. It's been a frustrating process for me and I'm sure it's been a frustrating process for all Laker fans. I'm just hoping we can get to that level. I'm still frustrated. I'm waiting for them to make some changes."

Poor thing.................................................

Bryant told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that he wants the Lakers to bring West back to the organization and give him full authority. If the Lakers don't want to do that, Bryant said he wants to be traded.

Right, who blew up the Lakers?

The Lakers are my favorite team, but I can't stand Kobe at all. I don't think the Lakers will ever contend again with him as part of their franchise.

They can, they are just too inept to do it right now. They have Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant, two of the surest hall of famers ever, and they don't know what to do.

Since I don't see the Lakers elevating themselves in the west anytime soon, Kobe should just go east. He has the ability to single-handedly carry a team to the NBA Finals from that conference, as long as it's not a team as bad as the Hawks or something.

The Lakers need to lose him now. I agree about him having a great chance in the east. They could trade him and get some great value for him. The Lakers are going to struggle to just make it to the playoffs now that Portland and Seattle have Oden and Durant.

No, there's no trade in the NBA in which you could really get the value that Kobe truly demands. He is the best player in the league right now, and one of the best pure shooters of all time. The Lakers need to stop waffling between wanting to develop future talent, and winning now. They can't do both.

In short, it's Bynum or Kobe. Bynum may well turn out to be the best center in the league in a few years, but you can win with Kobe now. Just get him another legit superstar, preferably PF or PG.

Besides... It's always been in the Lakers history; they don't develop. They win with all-star talent, and when they leave, the organization reloads with more superstars.

But, from what I've heard, they're more interested in developing Bynum... But not to the point where they're willing to get rid of Kobe.

I think Bynum is going to be great someday, they were smart by not trading him for Vince Carter before the trade deadline.

It doesn't matter. They're the Lakers, no player is ever going to be opposed to playing in Los Angeles. They could even trade Bynum now and pick him back up later.

That's probably true, I just wish they would trade Kobe, he puts a whole burden on the team or if they're not going to trade him surround him with Kevin Garnett or someone who can help carry Kobe to a championship.

It's not Kobe's fault. He goes out there every night and gives his team the best chance to win. If the Lakers don't win, it's the managements fault. Not Kobe's.

Kobe's so talented his teammates just automatically pass him the ball all of the time. They need to either trade him or get him someone he can work with. And it is his fault because he brokeup the Lakers dynasty a couple of years ago because he wanted to be the center of everything. Well, that's worked out real well, a missed postseason and 2 first round exits in the playoffs by himself.

He may have been the main reason the Lakers dynasty broke up, but it's the organization's fault that they put a bunch of d-leaguers around him and called it a "team." When Kobe said he wanted to be the #1 guy on his team, he wasn't talking about a high school JV team.

I hope he learned his lesson. He had the best talent in the world around him and sacrificed his team so he could be a star and his stats may be good, but the team is now terrible.

I think Kobe is in a unique situation. First he joined a very good team when he entered the league. He won 3 titles early in his career and didn't have to go through the early-rough years many superstars experience like #23. Now he is the stud on a very average team, racking up points and raising his average while making early playoff exits. It like his career has gone in the reverse order of many, but not all, superstars.

Other than Bynum and Kobe the Lakers don't have enough to package a deal for say KG unless they could get a third team involved. I'm not sure how much money they have for FA's or what the contracts are like for the existing players but it could be a situation like the Knicks where they have a bunch of money locked up with average players (Kwame Brown).

There is an easy template for success and titles in the NBA IMO. First you need a superstar that is the leader of the team. Second you need either an aging superstar who was once THE Man for a team but now accepts his role as the 2nd in line (Rockets Hakeem and Drexler or Spurs with Duncan and Robinson or LakersMagic and Kareem or Heat DWade and Shaq). Or you need the second best player to become a star in his role as Robin ( Bulls Jordan and Pippen, Lakers Shaq and Kobe). You also need role players that have a specialty like shooting (Paxson, Kerr) rebounding/defense (Rodman/Robinson) or is clutch in big situations (Robert Horry).

The Lakers need to get KG (the aging superstar desperate to win). It doesn't seem Kirelinko is happy with the Jazz so maybe get him (rebounding and D). And they need to find a few role players that can give the team a spark.
