Paul Krugman is on record stating that he won't engage in a public debate. Austrians have been pleading to get him in the ring so they can expose his paper thin ideas. He refuses.

One of my favorite economists Robert Murphy (wrote Politically Incorrect Guides to Capitalism, and to The Great Depression, both excellent), has challenged Krugman to a debate. He has started a website to raise money to donate to charity if Krugman will accept the debate.

They've already raised $60K. At what point can Krugman no longer refuse? $100K? $250K? I'd say it's already to that point.

Doesn't matter the amount. Nothing is too big to tarnish his reputation among his liberal followers.

At some point the refusal has to become more tarnishing than the outcome of the debate would be, IMO.

Liberals don't care about charity. If the stakes were over raising the tax rates of the rich, or more public funding for liberal government programs then he might be game.

If the hardest interview you do in a given year is with Rolling Stone, then I doubt you can be persuaded to do a debate.
