Being widely reported Penske will officially dump Kurt Busch today as the driver of the #22 car. David Ragan is the leading candidate to replace Busch with Reutimann, Vickers, and Bayne as other names being thrown around.

Bayne is the only driver with any upside. The rest of them are stiffs, but my money is on Ragan.

This was 100% a sponsor move, if true.

Shell and Penske are smart. Kurt isn't good enough now to overcome his attitude issues like his brother can.

Stop. He's a former champion. He's proven he's good enough. Don't be an idiot.

Bottom line, when you drive for Roger Penske you do things only one way. He's not the first talented driver let go by Penske and doubtful he'll be the last.

I agree. Like him or not (I don't) he has graced the winners circle and unfortunately is one of the more recognizable names in Nascar.

If the rumors are true where does Busch land? I'd GUESS that there is no Cup ride available for him at this stage unless Jay Frye pulls one out of his hind end and somehow can run what's left of the Red Bull cars next year. If no Cup rides maybe he drives for Kyle in Nationwide and Trucks until he bounces back somewhere in 2013.

He could run Danica's car for the 25 or so races she's not gonna run. He would have to find some sponsorship though. Him and Tony haven't gotten along in the past.

That was my only guess. Who knows, if he can line up a sponsor maybe he can find a home at MWR. The resources are thin, but Mikey will never shy away from exposure.

Apparently David Ragan was set to sign a contract to replace Landon Cassill in the #51. I guess he is glad he didn't sign that deal now.

Definately shocked to hear this. I know he acted like an a**clown at Homestead to Punch, but I'm surprised he got fired over it. Maybe baby brother can give him a ride in the Truck series.

Rahal Letterman racing put up an album of him testing their Champ Car in 2003 around the same time the news broke. Not sayin, just sayin.

New article out today saying TRG Motorsports & Front Row Motorsports have tried to contact Kurt. Phoenix Racing is "keeping its options open" about its 2012 driver line up too. Finch's team has been my guess all along.

I came here to post that link. What Finch said wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement for Busch. That said, you have to be really dumb or desperate to drive for Finch.
