Just saw some crazy number about the amount of UK players drafted since 2010.... Unreal they only have 1 NC

For some reason I thought they had a couple, but should be more with all the HS stars they buy. Oops, I mean that they bring in on scholarship 😁

I think the reason they don't have more national titles since 2010 is because all of these freshmen that come there to play are one & done.

I don't care how good they are or how good the coaching is it can take more than 1 year for these players to gel together. One year together doesn't cut it.

I believe if all of the players stayed 3 seasons then they would have two championships in those 3 years. They just get way too much talent for that not to happen. But, if they don't change the rules we will never know.

I would bet the rules would change for allowing players to go straight from high school to the NBA before forcing players to stay in college thru their junior season.

How many titles total have been won with 1-and-done rosters? I can only think of 1 for Kentucky and 1 for Duke. It's not an easy thing to do, despite the talent level

I believe Syracuse did it with Carmelo Anthony a few years back too. Although, I don't know if they had any other One-and-Done players on their roster.

That's true! I don't believe if I remember correctly that Melo had any other 5* players on that roster with him. I know he had a couple of 4* players but no other 5* ones like Kentucky gobbles up each year.

That team was all about Melo. He himself basically carried Syracuse to the national title. Didn't they lose something like 11-12 regular season games though that year? They gelled at the right time.

Melo averaged over 25+ points per game that one season plus the offense was ran solely through him. Johnny Flynn was on that team & he was a 4* prospect but was older than Melo. Boy, was Flynn an NBA bust.

Johnny Flynn wasn't on the '03 title team. Gerry McNamara, Hakim Warrick, Craig Forth, and Keuth Duany were the starters. Josh Pace and Billy Edelin were contributors off the bench. Flynn played at Syarcuse from 07-09.

I had my years mixed up. I was thinking Flynn played with Melo for some reason. Thanks!

It is harder than most believe to win with mostly freshman and sophs. We were close in 2014 and 2015. Unfortunately the NCAA basketball title has a small margin of error. One bad game, one fluke, and you're out. It doesn't mean an undeserving team wins it all, but the best overall doesn't a lot.

UK was the best in 2010, 2012 and 2015. We obviously were a contender for more than just those years, but it didn't work out. We could probably go back, change a few plays here and there, and UK ends up with three titles. It's just how the ball bounced.
