Ky looking more normal tonite

Let down game for the cats. We always get their best.
Hard fought road game came back from 13 at one point isn’t a let down. That was their super bowl and we found a way to win. Maybe a let down to people that thought the UK UT game was normal. I expect the same type of game in Knoxville. UK hit everything against UT. Tonight they missed everything. I’m sure they will miss everything in Knoxville and have another slugfest.

My takes on the UK -aTm game.
(1) Very tough hostile environment. Loud sellout crowd. Most all UK’s road games are.
(2) aTm played harder and with more energy than UK.
(3) UK got a tough whistle.
(4) Both teams had a horrible shooting night, especially UK.
(5) UK may have been a little full of themselves after the big win Saturday.
(6) With all the above UK somehow made the plays down the stretch to win.

Evidently UK won. Too bad. Last year was a better Ky.

Didn’t I hear am was leading sec in 3 pt shooting but was terrible last night. Cat fans will say that because of their defense yet their missed shots were a fluke. That’s how they roll.

thats why i never make a big deal out of one game. chances are we beat them in knoxville or could very well get blown out again

Sorry guys, for us to beat KY this year is gonna take a whole lot different mindset by most of our bigs and some shooting that has not been see sense early season (more lately the KY game). Our Memphis freshman is gonna need to mature a lot and soon or we will still struggle to win closely played games. (may not need for him to come along much, the NY freshman looks to me to be months ahead in development) On a really strong note: The Big U is waking up, showing more aggression on the court and maybe best of all an on court leadership that has been lacking.

Buzz has got the team going in the right direction. That said, you can't miss your free throws and expect to win a close game.

I need to see them win some games against the Top 50 teams first, their OOC schedule was a joke. They could easily get to 21 wins and not have a single Top 50 win, which would put making the NCAAT in question.

I’ve watched thousands of games over the last 5 decades and rarely have I’ve seen a team more on fire than Cats were last Saturday. Reminded me of a game years ago we lost to UAB. My numbers are probably off a bit but UAB shot like 70% from the field and we had no shot. The game Saturday seemed similar however we did shoot the ball well. NO WAY Cats could come close to reproducing that performance at aTm.

UK fans are so annoying when they say this. Glad we didn't have to hear it last year when the Cats were 9-16.

Did Grady even miss a shot against us? That game was such an anomaly yet so many of our stupid fans wanted to think it was the new normal?

Exactly. It’s abnormal to shoot 70% in half and above 60 for entire game. Nobody would’ve beat KY that night as everything went right for them.

I noticed be Vandy that we lack an athletic player. Chandler is a good ball handler and our most athletic player. But look at Auburn, Duke, etc - they have a couple of athletic players who can do it all.

Actually, UK shot 79% the first half and just shy of 70% for the game. They shot 36% last night. We do have more athletes if JJJ decides to mix it up at the rim and if ON could/would reach his potential.

I wasn’t sure of exact % but KY played above their heads.

Chandler is the only one that I have seen with above average athleticism. Vescovi and Powell are good shooters.

JJJ doesn’t attack the lane too often. Not sure if it is will or skill (able to dribble penetrate w/o turnover?

The Wed game at Vandy was my first college game close to the court, very eye opening. A lot more physical than I realized at that level. Plus you could see a turnover ready to occur as the defense was getting ready to trap or a player going baseline would turn it over w/ a bad pass. Barnes was livid the entire night with Chandler’s turnovers and the others getting trapped.

I hope you are correct regarding JJJ and ON. A lot of if’s and but’s with this team. But, I’m hopeful! 😝

Annoying maybe, but ethe poster has a heck of a point. Every school sells out for Kentucky. Every school has a "white out", "orange out" etc when Kentucky comes to town.
