No that team is not very good. I guess he is holding on for as long as he can. Clocking laps in while he can. It is ashame too. Like Sterling Marlin. Not sure I know who Darnell is...he must be the next generation of young guns with Keselowski and the such...

Erik Darnell is a 26 year old driver for Roush. He is a good young driver so we'll see if this is more about Bobby Labonte or the 96 car. Yates is an extension of Roush like Stewart-Haas is to Hendrick so the equipment should be good.

That is the one thing about Tony I dont like with his new team. He is running the Hendrick Motor. I am not a fan of that team at all. Was hoping Dale would go to RCR before he went to Hendrick. Maybe it is because I like pulling for underdogs, but I want another team to get strong.

I wonder if Tony is using any more Hendrick technology??

And is Aikmen/Staubach out of the HOF racing now??

Well we saw what happened last year when Coleman bolted from JGR to this ride and it fell through just as soon as it began. Of course Darnell was robbed out of Roush's plans so he's got to showcase his talents somewhere. It just goes to show that how much money plays a part, regardless of what he does, Paul Menard will always be secure a spot due to his funding.

I don't effing believe this. This is so wrong. First PE screws him over now this. What a crock.

I don't really like talking a lot of smack about drivers but I want to say this without trying to bury Darnell.

He may be a nice guy and has shown to be a pretty good driver. But something about how he broke in still sticks me a little bit. If you all remember he was the winner of the first Gong Show (Driver X) for Roush. From tons of things I have read about it he was about 3rd or 4th on the pecking order truthfully. But, and here's the big but, he was already one of Matt Kenseth's closest friends. Kenseth really pushed for Darnell to win the ride over a couple of other guys that had better overall results and better resumes.

Now, with Darnell being able to flash his Northern Tool sponsorship Yates sees the dollar signs here and decides to put him in the car for the sponsorship money. From what I've read Hall of Fame is NOT on board with this at all and they have already said they won't be aligned with Yates next year. They've all but said the cars are 3rd rate Roush crap anyway - cars that the Roush bunch didn't even deem worthy of their backup rides.

But watch when Darnell gets in the car and don't be surprised if he runs well. Why would he run well when Labonte struggled? Because the cars Darnell will be racing ARE Roush prototype cars and new generation Roush equipment. So he could come out there and run fairly well and everyone will think Labonte is a washed up has been. Maybe he's not as great as he once was but I'd still take him over half of the guys in Cup right now. He hasn't forgot how to drive a car. But Darnell will jump into this ride and have MUCH better equipment than Labonte has been driving all year.

Bobby Labonte is one of the classier guys in Cup, and also the most wasted talent I can think of.

I believe he can still drive competitvely, but what can happen after do many years of subpar rides is losing that winning mental edge. He hasn't forgotten how to drive, but does he remember how to win?

I always liked him and Terry, and hope something good will come out of this for Bobby.

It sucks for Bobby, but money talks these days. It's gonna be hard for him to find a competitive ride for next year.
