"Princess" Lacey lost her battle with neuroblastoma last night. Prayers go out to her family and anybody who had the joy of meeting her. Gone way to soon.

So tragic. Hat is off to Payne and the MSU organization who befriended her and made her time so special.

I've been a parent for less than a year, and I can't read stories like this without having to wipe my eyes. I cannot even attempt to imagine what this must be doing to her parents.

Prayers for her family.

I'm not even a parent yet and I sobbed like a baby in my classroom on lunch break. It hit a couple of my basketball loving students pretty hard too.

One more on our side looking out for us up there. I was in the airport this evening when Sportscenter came on and "broke" the news and I've never seen so many people gather around a tv in a terminal. People got out of line to watch it and there weren't many dry eyes around. It was a sight to behold seeing grown men and high school kids alike wiping their eyes. It's amazing how many people she touched in such a short while. Guess she was too good to be here for too long, God wanted her with him.

My company is based out of St. John's, MI, Lacey's hometown. It's a small community of 6-7k people so I'm sure this has rocked the community. I've not spoken to anyone at my HQ since the news broke but I'd have to imagine some of my co-workers up there know her family fairly well given it's small size. I really hope we're doing/have done something for the family.

Definitely got choked up just looking at pics of her and Adreian Payne together. That guy definitely made her last few months happy. I'll always be a fan. Hope the guy gets his chance in the NBA.

That's so depressing. She is with God now. Payne is a class act and handled that situation extremely well.

another link, with Dickie V pledging to raise $250k in her name.

Lacey will always make a difference in my life, Im never going to forget that kid, or kids like her. Hopefully she will be able to make a difference for kids she has never known.

I'm glad Ditale followed it up with "if I have to give it myself". Vowing to raise money with little input of your own is a way to show "I made an effort" without really making an effort. I'd venture to say Ditale could come close to paying it all himself and be ok down the road.
