Lack of Offensive Line Recruits

Depends on how good they think their chances are with a few high end guys. I haven't followed that closely but didn't UT just miss on an NC OL? I like the lower rated guys they've signed over the past two years and believe they'll end up being very good. Spraggins is probably my favorite signee in the last class.

How many guys did UT lose since last fall? I think some guys left but no one graduated, did they? UT signed 3

Diego pounds and Rod Orr Prob end up in orange sumhow..I’m sure there still chasing Pennington but I’m not sure of the chance of us flipping him.I would say the normal “Guys will pop up on the radar over the season names we haven’t heard etc”but with this covid and mass hysteria who knows how things will shake out.Just going off what we know as of now.

We've got quite a few younger OG and OC prospects currently on the roster or on the way. Definitely could use 1-2 OTs in this cycle to go along with Colby Smith.

Mimms is a longshot, but I like the guys you mentioned as a consolation prize.

It will be nice to get back to those days where we can redshirt a few guys and not have to have freshman step in day 1.Were finally building a little depth,Whixh is great compared to what we’ve had to trot out in the past.

You're right. The best example could be K. Calbert and J. Carvin. Both starters last season, but not projected to start this season with 2 more years of eligibility. I happen to think Carvin is really good (draft potential) and think he'll be a key player at one of the OG spots after the departure of Smith and Mays. Extremely mean, nasty, powerful, and competitive--just not as good as Smith or Mays. If you rewatch that Alabama game, you'll see JC giving work to the Bama front.

I feel like between Calvert, Carvin, and last year’s haul, we’re in pretty good shape on the interior OL after this season. I like Smith a lot, but we really need at least one Wanya Morris/Darnell Wright caliber OT this class though. Mims seems Bama bound, Orr seems like good prospect. Pounds seems more like a guard to me.

I believe there was talk last year of Perry moving over to the offense to tackle possibly. Or did I make that up?

Any concern here? I haven’t followed recruiting much yet, but I saw we only have Colby Smith. Knowing we are losing Smith, Kennedy, and possible Cade after this season, seems like we need some more guys in this class to stay comfortable down the road.

Don’t we have 12-13 OL on the roster now? Isn’t that the target every year? If so, then it makes sense we would recruit 2-3 OL every cycle, eh?

No big deal, Dooley didn't draft a single OL one class! .......................................... Ok so that didn't turn out so well.

Don't remember his name right off. But we have a verbal from that huge "TE". Rated 3* but w crazy athleticism and size. I have always believed that he was headed for DE or OT. We have enuf elite TEs in the class iirc.

Next class is when we really need to sign the next Morris and Wright. Along with another Smith and Mays.

Really needs to be this class. If Morris and Wright live up to their billing, they could easily leave after their junior year. Waiting until next class opens up the possibility of having to start a freshman, which is never an ideal circumstance. Really, just one elite tackle to take over at LT if Wanya leaves early is the concern. It's easier to plug in at RT.
