He knows what we need to do really wish we could get it done. Everything he says is exactly what we need to do to win.

I agree with you. Dean Lockwood talks a good game. He really has a knack for conveying the many nuances of what the Lady Vols need to do to become successful on the court. But for the life of me all his talking has not translated to the court these past several seasons.

What he stated in that video is a good example of what I've been expecting from MeMe and Alexa. He's right on all accounts. Now, I have confidence with what Dean is saying because I see it. MeMe isn't jumping up like a grasshopper on defense like she did last season. She's more in a defensive stance moving her feet. He also acknowledged that MeMe has been beat a few times. So he was honest about that. I'm glad the interviewer brought that up.

His thoughts on Alexas was on point. She's been good against the cupcakes but abysmal against stiffer competition. I know some posters on here stated the same facts. The Stanford game was a breakout for Alexa. Her offense wasn't on fire but she helped in many other ways in that win.

The one glaring defacto of a head scratcher and I'd hope the interviewer would of brought it up. Why is Mercedes allowed to be out on the perimeter if a play is not drawn up for her on offense. And on defense why bring her out there?

Thanks for the link. It helped to understand the mindset of the coaching staff. A little bit anyway.

Russell needs to stop following her mark out away from the paint--she can still call out picks while staying closer to the basket. This is dumb basketball, and she's been doing doing it for three years. We're not a very smart basketball team--and haven't been for ages.

The LVs haven't been a good man-to-man defensive team for some time, especially when they have to beat a screen. They go under the screen too many times and give up the open 3. So it seems that a few years ago, they had enough interchangeable personnel that they could switch on screens, and had post players like Graves and Harrison that were nimble enough to guard the perimeter. Mercedes is too slow to do that, and it's quite shocking that the coaching staff hasn't adjusted to that over a year later.

Thank you I said the same about Alexa in recent post. She needs to step up like that against SEC play especially Miss State and USC!

With Mercedes out of the paint it opens up driving lanes to the basket, it open up the paint. She needs to set better screens, and when the pick and roll game get started it will help in her development, cos Mercedes will be able to take most opposing centers to the basket, when she dives or have an insolation.

Mercedes, has no room to work, we haven't seen her face up game (elbow or free throw line) game, 4-1, she owns the whole paint, and has to be able to make shots. Then the 5 spot becomes a four and five spot, in traditional offense but being played by one players, but she has to move better and eat up more space, but she needs room and good offense is all about spacing too.

Mercedes become better when our guards play better.
