Game time is 7:00 pm, with TV coverage on ESPNU. This match will be a challenge as Kentucky is pretty darn good. They beat Florida in Lexington but just lost to Georgia, also in Lexington. Still, they are 4 - 1 for their SEC season and I expect a real battle with our ladies being on the upswing. It should be a great match!

I am going to heltp Eve coach today , likes she needs it! Leave the speciality server on the sidelines. ( She was not good at all in the last two matches). Also pull back on the every point rotation and put Lily together with Tessa as much as possible. Yes Ky is very good and that one girl that seems to have been there 10 years is an AA! This is a free advise session. lol. JMHO as always!!! SS

Well, we were up 9-5 then decided to pass the ball just on Kentucky's side of the net. Down now 15-10
The snowball is heading downhill and fast.

Came back only to lose 25-23 in the first set. We just need a little more of everything: passing, hitting, defense and blocking.

We just got soundly spanked by a superior team. Kudos to Kentucky they are the class of the SEC in my book.

We had too many unforced errors, to borrow a tennis term, to hang with them. I think our team is pretty fragile right now and when they hit a rough patch they lose their composure and struggle to stay or get back in the match. I continue to be impressed by Lily and her will to win. I also wonder what's going on with Tessa? She just doesn't seem to be herself lately. Andreno had a nice match with several solid blocks. I'm not sure why our freshman setter is getting so many rotations and Sedona is sitting. Perplexing, to say the least. Of course, injury can be a hidden reason a player is not prominent in the rotation or not on top of her game and we rarely know about injuries.

And so it goes...back on the road for the weekend against #25 Missouri, which will be another challenging match.

I'm not sure why our freshman setter is getting so many rotations and Sedona is sitting. Perplexing, to say the least. I noticed this the last two matches as well! I guess I don't know much as I thought about volleyball but why is our middles not getting any sets to them? 4 different times tonight they had a set and had kills. Why so few time in 3 sets? Andreano and Rowe are big and athletic and hit down on the ball from that position with power. Also why does our senior sub come in to serve and then if it is successful then her defense is not very good to me? Again subs still look crazy to me . Bring Tessa in to serve and she promptly hits it out of the gym. Announcer seemed to question that because she had not had a chance to serve since warmups! Ky was the superior team by far and I be glad when Edmonds graduates. She is a stud if I should say such a thing!! Finally Ava got a little playing time but she had a couple of service errors. I think our team is pretty fragile right now and when they hit a rough patch they lose their composure and struggle to stay or get back in the match. I continue to be impressed by Lily and her will to win. Yep she probably is our MVP at this time!!

But Kentucky is not at its program’s best. We made it easy for them at times just by being sloppy and thoroughly disorganized. We were better than this last year, and I think we have adequate replacements for Treiber, Schumacher, and Jeter on roster. Disappointing follow-up so far to feel-good season last year. Other teams spent off-season getting better (Ole Miss, Georgia, LSU). We’ve regressed.

Soundly spanked? Sure the volleyball team lost but 2 sets were 25 23 and 30 28 to a ranked team. Thats not being spanked. Alabama this weekend will be a for real ass spanking.

I possibly could have made a better word choice is describing how soundly we were beaten. On the other hand, when you play a match and get swept, I think you got spanked even if you played the other team close. At the end of the day...we lost.

KY was definitely the better team during the match. Every set for a spike was hammered by KY. Kudos to the digs on those spikes as they were powerful. I cannot say the same thing about the TN spikes. The effort was there but the advantage goes to KY.

I watched the Purdue and Nebraska match that followed out last night. I noticed last year while watching Nebraska and again last night that they set the ball just about every time about a foot or so from the attack line. Where as Purdue and everyone else If I recall including us set the ball jut about at the net. John Cook of Nebraska I would guess teaches this technique . I assume that from that distance from the net the hitter can maybe hit away from the blocks better. He has won enough championships to know something. I will be more observant to see if any other teams do that as well.

THOUGHTS?
