Hopefully it won't matter, but I think the Lady Vols got hosed on the seeding with the #4 overall versus Nebraska getting #3. It is close and
Nebraska only has one loss versus the
Lady Vols 2 losses, but one of those losses came against a higher ranked team in Standford which they were "supposed" to lose. So, basically they both have one loss if you look @ teams they weren't supposed to lose to and then Tennessee played tougher teams. PLUS, TN won their conference tournament while Nebraska didn't win theirs and had their loss more recently than TN's last loss and it's how you're playing NOW that should have some merit in seeding.
Teams IN the tournament that Lady Vols beat - tournament seeding in parenthesis:
7 teams out of conference
Baylor (4), Virginia (5), MTSU (10), UCLA (8), Texas (6), Rutgers (9), Oklahoma (4)
4 teams in conference
Mississippi State (7), Vanderbilt (6), LSU (7), Kentucky (4)
Lost to 1 team Stanford (1) in the tournament out of conference
Lost to 1 team Georgia (5) in the tournament in conference
Now let's look @ Nebraska:
2 teams out of conference
LSU (7), Vermont (10)- 2 teams out of conference
5 teams in conference
Baylor (4), Texas (6), Oklahoma State (4), Texas A&M (2), Oklahoma (4)
Lost to 1 team Texas A&M (2) in the tournament in conference (who they also beat)
I think it's obvious that the Vols have a much tougher schedule overall and especially out of conference. TN beat 11 teams in the tournament versus 7 of Nebraska plus the Vols lost to 2 more teams in the tournament. You can't really do anything about your in conference schedule - you are whatever you are. But, the Lady Vols always go out and face tough competition year round, which is their choice to do as it is some team's NOT to do.
Maybe it's counter productive to dwell on things like this, but it just feels like they always get the shaft on these things like they are held to a higher, different standard for some reason. They don't seem to get rewarded on their strength of schedule like they should.
