Lady Vols not as dominant

The Lady Vols are not the team as they always used to be. I know they are
25-4 overall and 11-3 in the SEC, but with losses to unranked Florida and KY, that's gotta stink! Can the Lady Vols win the SEC tourney? I hope so. Pat had better get their minds on what in front of them. I think the Lady Vols will get a #2 in the NCAA tourney and worst off a #3. Hope not the latter. How far can these Lady Vols go in the WNCAA? Only as far as they want. They have to have the fire in them to advance. Same goes for our guys too!

yea i agree they have to have the fire and the desire if they want to win and for a team that good i know they cant be playin with either right now so pats gonna have to put the desire in them its up to the fans to get them fired up come game night

Unfortunately, I'd have to agree... The Lady Vols are not their usual selves this year. It's alright though, Pat has earned the allowance of a hiccup season.

It's been rough at times, but it's a long way from over. We've won a National title with twice as many losses as we have right now.

You know you've had success when 25-4 is considered a hiccup season.

More importantly, we need a point guard!!!!

I love my girls, but they won't make it out of the sweet 16 this year.

Ask and you shall receive. I just read that we picked up a JUCO guard. Alberta Auguste is a 5'11 guard that averages 23.5 points a game and 4.8 steals a game. She leads her team in assists and is also averaging 8 rebounds.

Auguste is the reason that Summitt was in Florida the same time our men played UF. This is first time that Summitt has picked up a JUCO player in 29 years. So Auguste must be pretty special.

Maybe she has some speed.

They need to:

1. Play DEFENSE
2. Sharpen they're passing skills.
3. Knock off the turn overs.

CPS has them focused--the LVs just need to get with it.

i've only watched em play 3-4 times this year, and the one thing that suprises me about them this year over years past is the defensive play. not as strong in years past...

but, CPS is tourney tested, and i have a feeling they may make a run....the season for the lady vols doesn't start until post season play.

the good news about the reg. season is that she knows what this teams' weaknesses are, and i can't help but think that she'll have 'em ready.

Though i will say LSU, Duke both are very good, and will cause anyone trouble in the post season.

They've already beat high ranked teams, but the loss of Hornbuckle throws a wrench into anything they'd gotten together at this point. For the first couple games, Zolman looked really timid at the point. They're trying that bring it down by comittee deal, but with teams like Florida, who press the whole time, you really need that Point Guard with great hands and great awareness to break the press.

Other than that, I'd say our weakness is less defense, and more passing when on offense. We make WAY too many dumb passes. Little bounce passes inside trying to go around a defender, and throwing it slowly around the top...asking for steals.

If we can work on passing, it will help shave some points off, b/c we're giving up at least 10fast break points a game that are uncontested.

they've had defensive problems since we lost an assistant to Michigan State, I'm sorry that I can't remember his name but there is your defensive connection...

If they could learn how to pass the ball, it would be HUGE difference. Right now, they try to force things inside and when they do that, it usually results in a turnover.

I guess you people haven't seen the news the last 3 months. The Lady Vols lost their top 2 point guards!

For real?? When did that happen. :crazy: Seriously though, they should still be able to pass the ball.
