Warlick apparently discouraged the team from taking threes in the oregon state game. She said the players were free to take threes but acknowledged that she wanted to score inside--surprise! In a way it's understandable given how badly we have shot threes. On the other hand, if you are not taking or making threes, you are going to have trouble winning games because most teams nowadays can make threes, and if they are making some and you are not, you are effectively losing points. And, indeed, we only beat OSU because they had a terrible night shooting treys. We have to make some threes or our offensive problems will continue.

The goal is to put the ball in the basket and getting the highest percentage shot on each possession.

We have to play to our players and team's strengths and right now, getting to the rim is our strength. Now, if we were a three point shooting team but hello, we are shooting 20%, get to the basket ladies, midrange jumpers and layups.

The threes will fall, once confidence from making shots and getting to the free throw line improves.

What was discouraging to me was her statement that she was really pleased with the offensive efficiency in the Oregon state game.To me that says it all about just what she understands about half court offense.....and scoring in the 50's is good offensive efficiency ?? That was rhetorical so no one has to respond to that.

I agree. I was watching Kentucky play Duke and the announcers stated that Matthew Mitchell said he had to fix their half court offense because that was a major weakness and I must say they look much much better than last season. I can actually see that they run a motion offense and they have shooters. I hate we didn't sign Akhator because she is a pure beast down in the post. We have the athletes, but we look terrible on offense. Reminds me of the 2007 Rutgers team. They would suffocate you on defense, but struggled to score. That team also made it to the Final Four. Hopefully we can cause other teams to look terrible in big games because we can't depend on offensive efficiency.

The difference is that the Rutgers team had a lot of pure scorers on the team. Ajavon, Carson and Prince were light years better than any of the current Tennessee guards, save Deshields. It's a wonder they didn't score more points with those kind of offensive weapons on the court.

We need to make some threes but really don't need but a few players taking them and that would be Deshields, Dunbar, and maybe Middleton. I really don't like to see Reynolds, Cooper and even Carter put them up. Carter has a shot that looks like she should be making a good percentage but never seems to happen.

Hart needs to cough up the bucks and start looking for someone new. Holly has her thirty years with the retirement system so she could gracefully retire from coaching. Doubt she would be hired by one of the networks but she would have a good retirement. Time to start the process. MItchell at Kentucky would be a good hire. Just thinking of the future of our once great program

5-21 against a good team and its a lost!

A good team that can make you pay, a final four team will make you pay, you take the shot you want, not the shot the defense gives you. Once our ladies learn that, we will be a more efficient shooting team.

If a team let me take 60 shots in the paint, I tell you, I will take em all day.

If you are good playing defense and rebounding the basketball, and not turning it over, you can win a lot of games not shooting more than 8 threes a game.

Our team just simply hasn't embraced the physicality of the game, they think the physicality is all hands, but you play defense with your feet and body, our ladies have solid frames, we dont' get teams bodied... those hits also helps wear opponents down, SEC hopefully will make us tougher.

Every time, we won a championship we were the more physical team, hello our last two championships the score was in the 50s!

Hey ladies, we are not a three point shooters, get to the rim. Get to the rim or get to the line... Dats it! And guess what you get to work on your handles, and we know what handles do...dey allow you to get any shot you want on the floor for yourself and others.

My coach used to say, "A three point shot within the first 15 seconds of the shot clock or from a person not shooting over 35%, was like a turnover, you're too lazy to make the defense work huh, oh so we don't want to play any offense tonight, run the offense and get the best shot possible."

Holly, you are preaching the right message.
