Tennessee soccer plays UCLA to scoreless draw
Tennessee soccer couldn’t find a way past UCLA’s defense, ending the game with a 0-0 draw.
Neither the Lady Vols (3-1-1) nor the No. 9 Bruins (5-1-1) found a goal despite numerous chances on both ends. The two teams combined for 23 shots on target, but none found the back of the net.
Both goalkeepers had a strong performance. Tennessee’s Ally Zazzara saved all five shots on target she faced, and UCLA’s Ryan Campbell made five saves.

First half ends scoreless
For the first time this season, Tennessee ended the first half without scoring or conceding a goal. The Lady Vols and Bruins both got substantial chances throughout the match.
Reese Mattern gave the Lady Vols their first shot on target by taking advantage of a UCLA turnover, but her shot was saved. Jaida Thomas nearly scored off a Tennessee corner kick, but UCLA’s goalkeeper made the stop.
Lady Vols get strong chances but can’t score
Despite putting five shots on target, Tennessee couldn’t find a goal against the Bruins. The Lady Vols were constantly threatening, but UCLA goalkeeper Ryan Campbell made every save she needed to make.
Mac Midgley led the Lady Vols with three shots, all of which were on target. Muriel Kroflin contributed two shots off the bench. Forward Reese Mattern put one shot on goal and picked up four fouls.
Ally Zazzara strong in goal
Playing in goal for the Lady Vols, Zazzara saved all five shots on target she faced from UCLA’s attack. Zazzara also played a crucial role in defending against UCLA’s five corner kicks.
With the draw, Tennessee earned its fourth straight shutout, all of which featured Zazzara playing in goal for the Lady Vols.
Lady Vols look ahead to Florida Atlantic
Tennessee’s next match comes against Florida Atlantic at home on Sunday. The Lady Vols will look to earn a fifth straight result in the game.
Last season, the two sides met in Boca Raton and Tennessee won, 2-0. The Lady Vols put 10 shots on target in the match and will hope to have a similar performance.
