Lady VOLS vs LSU

Why, when I read that, did I think of the woman on the front of the Syrup bottle?

This loss must be getting to me.

I realize I may be salting a wound, but I'm honestly curious about what the following statistic means:

"The Lady Tigers became only the third SEC team and eighth team overall to win in Knoxville, joining Duke, Connecticut, Louisiana Tech, Georgia, Texas, Stanford and Auburn. It was Tennessee's 15th loss in the arena which opened in the 1987-88 season."

If we were only the eighth team overall to beat you guys at home, how do you guys have 15 losses? Am I missing something?

I still can't believe you guys had no SEC losses at home for a span of 10 years. That's retarded.

You tend to play the same teams over and over again.

.....

I wish these things would occur to me before I posted. :blush2: :stinker2: :tease2:

Anyone recall when some of those Auburn losses/loss were? There was some girl that went to my high school a few years before I got there that played ball at Auburn. CBC might know who I'm talking about since he went to my high school as well for a year or two.

I don't mean to drag the mood down once again, but in my personal opinion, I do not think the Lady Vols will be able to win the National Championship with their offense looking like it has this year. Especially tonight, and in very critical situations, everyone just stands around and does nothing. If it wasn't for the motivated play of Ty Fluker then tonight's game wouldn't have been close. She made several key plays on offense and defense. Candace did what Candace does but most of her points were bailout points when the offense broke down. I can only think of maybe 5 plays the ENTIRE game where we got a good look directly off of a set play. The rest was a bunch of stand around or just pass around and get rid of the ball then somebody frees up...

Just my opinion..

I agree, they're playing a little too lethargic and sloppy for my taste.

They need to learn that just because it says, "Tennessee" on their uniform doesn't mean they're guaranteed a win.

I will go with the odds and bet that Pat Summitt has this team ready to go by tourney time. There's no shame in losing to other great teams. If anything, we should be thankful for the uprising competition in women's basketball.

It's no fun at all to win everything by huge margins. Ok it is, but this is fun too.

Sometimes I wonder if Pat grows weary of players under achieving.I mean, what else does she have to prove?

Pat was so put out that at one point in the 2nd half she called TO, went back to the bench and glared as her assistants talked to them. Not sure if they're over-practiced, or what,, but they looked terrible last night. That was also the worst officiated game I've seen in a while. Just hitting the free throws would have won them the game even though they looked terrible. What ever happened to running, setting the right screens, passing and getting some looks on the perimeter? I didn't see any of that last night. Spencer and Zolman looked like freshmen last night. Fluker had a huge weight advantage down low, but couldn't box out or block anything down low for some reason...not a good effort at all.

In the mid to late 80's Auburn was the team to beat in the SEC. Pat had to get past that to win her 1st NC.

defense isn't like what i'm used to seeing, had some sloppy shots in the 2nd half, missed some easy buckets underneath.

all stuff that can be corrected. but the D has to step up....they got killed last night by LSU's ball movement and underneath stuff....

they'll be ready come tourney time though.....they alwasy are.

Some ideas about the games I have watched. Most of the time we are on, clicking, shooting well. However when we are off just enough for the other team to match our score or be ahead of our score, our lack of defense rears its ugly head. I'm not trying to say we don't play defense, its just when we need that extra, we can't seem to get it done. IMO Coach Summit has got to look at a little more zone play. The players on the floor for LSU were so much quicker with and without the ball than our players were. With such a big lineup and such slow feet, we should look at more zone play.

Just an idea.
