Tennessee coach Holly Warlick has received a one-year contract extension and a $65,000 raise after leading the Lady Vols to a Southeastern Conference regular-season title and a regional final appearance in her debut season.

Y! SPORTS

now that is a nice raise for sure, her contract now runs to March 2017,I think she earned a raise, the mighty Lady Vols had a lot if injuries and a short bench that she worked thru, there are still some concerns over the way they executed at times, but you have to remember, this is her first year as a head coach,a job well done i say, since she has to follow the legend

Warlick won the Maggie Dixon Award given annually to the nation's top Division I rookie coach.

I don't mean to take anything away from Holly's effort last season or Maggie Dixon's contribution but let's be real about this award. This was her competition:

Bucknell's Aaron Roussell was named one of two finalists for the 2013 Spalding Maggie Dixon Division I Rookie Coach of the Year, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced on Thursday. Roussell led the Bison to a 15-16 overall record during the 2012-13 campaign, giving the program its largest turnaround in program history. Joining Roussell in the final cut for the award is Tennessee's Holly Warlick.
