Should be great weather this weekend. Come out and support your LadyVols Rowing team.

UT is hosting the Conference Championships this year at Melton Lake in Oak Ridge.

The schedule looks something like this:

SATURDAY, MAY 12

9:00-10:30am - Preliminary Heats - Order of Heat events: (2 heats per event) V8, 2V8, V4, N8, O4

2:20-4:00pm - Petite and Grand Finals

Order of Finals: (Petite followed by Grand) O4, N8, V4, 2V8, V8

4:45pm - Awards Ceremony

There is a lot of space out there by the lake to spread out and enjoy the weather. Bring a frisbee, take your dog for a walk, etc. These girls are possibly the hardest working athletes on campus. It would be great to have a large showing out there.

Go LadyVols.

I'm confused. Your name is GatorBill and you have the Gators listed as one of your teams. Yet, you're encouraging us UT fans to support our rowing team and said, "Go LadyVols."

Nothing wrong with any of it, but it's a little unusual around here

Yes, correct. She is the sane one.

:)

I even own a UT hat for the first time in my life. Granted, it says "LadyVols Rowing" on it, but it certainly looks strange on my head. (or my head looks strange in that hat. . . . . . )

For those of you that haven't been to a rowing competition, you would love this weekend. It's gonna be competitive and exciting. With the whole conference competing against each other it's kinda like the Penn Relays (IMO) because it's a sport associated more with other Olympic Games sports. You can go and watch a track meet with two teams and if you are a real track fan you will enjoy it a lot.....BUT ... when tens of thousands of screaming track fans and tons of various teams get together at the Penn Relays and at every hand off the cheering increases-until near the finish it gets as loud as a football game in the south-you don't have to be a big track fan to feel the tension. I loved watching the Lady Vols pull off the triple crown at the PR two years in a row (...announcer went crazy...when SB came from 50 meters away to win one relay..."and Sarah Bowman puts the hammer down...") and set records. That's the kind of slow, building tension that will be there this weekend. It's great fun. I wish I could be there. Hope the weather is perfect.

Tennessee wins conference rowing championship. Coach Lisa Glenn wins Coach of the Year. Freshman Kayla Lucier named Newcomer of the Year.

Thanks for the links, I was a little on the tired side when I got home last night, and didnt have a chance to get here to do it myself.

It was a great day for racing. A little cool, but the rain stayed away, and we even caught a little sunshine for most of the afternoon.

The whole shooting match came down to the Grand Finale, with Texas and Tennessee both just needing to win that race to be C-USA Champs.

The LadyVols put the hammer to them in the last half of the race and won in impressive fashion. Yall should be very proud of your LadyVols. Excellent day.

wow, ZERO teams from C-USA headed to the NCAAs. that is sad.

Great season, but not quite complete. I guess that burns a little harder for next year.
