I am not saying that Pearl didn't need punishment, which will come from NC2A eventually, but the timing has a putrid smell. When the whole free world is crying for the commish to act on Scamgate, he sits the Tennessee head basketball coach for half of the season. What new came out this wee that wasn't known about in the Pearl case months ago?

Which brings me to the point: Mike Hamilton is a ninety pound weakling who is giong to get sand kicked in his face by: Slive, Bama, Florida and Auburn. This insult would have never have happened in the Bob Woodruff or Doug Dickey eras.

Um, we wouldn't have a competitive basketball if Doug Dickey was still here to worry about this

While I am NOT a Hammy fan, the new rules put in place in the SEC gives the commish this authority...doubt there was much he could have done. On the other hand...it does make you wonder where the h..l Slive is in the Newton mess. TN is not one of Slives favorite spots on the map (at least not E TN).

If Slive is going to suspend Pearl for 8 games in the SEC then he better do something to Auburn coach in the Newton thing going around. And when Calapari gets caught he better act quickly. Because you know it's comming to Ky.

Pearl openly admitted to what he did.

The Auburn/Cam thing is still being investigated.

You can't punish Cam and Auburn for something that they haven't been convicted of yet. Can you imagine the lawsuit if they did and the NCAA and whoever else wasn't able to find anything? Pearl's mistakes on the other hand were FACT.

Furthermore, the SEC was probably going to suspend Pearl at some point anyway for all of this, it just so happens in the meantime they got their hands full with the whole Camgate deal. Theres not going to be a "good time" to announce this stuff.

This is big news for now, and maybe it will stay big news in east Tennessee for a while, but I would put money down on the fact that after a week no one will think about this nationally until SEC play starts and we're either winning or losing. They're all going to be quite absorbed in what matters at this very minute - and thats where or not a potential FBS National Championship game is going to be played by an ineligible player.

I'm not a Hamilton fan AT ALL. But this suspension would happen regardless of the AD

Seems to me we, as a fanbase, are having groupie understanding that the Pearl admitted lying and the Auburn situation are independent and entirely different.
