I think if you are a 5 star recruit and the coach doesn't play the NFL card they are insulting your intelligence. There is simply no comparison in the value of a college degree and a first round NFL contract.

Nonsense. He may have stereotyped high school football players by suggesting that the NFL is more important to them than academics, but he was absolutely correct.

Well maybe she needs to check out the most recent SEC Academic Honor Roll, Alabama is 2nd on the list with 38 football players from this fall. So if she is so interested in academics, its a win win at Bama. But seriously did you see this mom when he announced his decision, he is probably trying to get away from her.

Alabama has 56 student athletes on SEC Academic Honor Roll for fall semester (2nd highest in SEC) and 38 of those are football players (most of any SEC school). Another reason she is just running her mouth without the facts. The NC team this year had 26 players who had already received their degree before the game in Jan., and this was the about the same number as the 09 team. After watching the Bama defense "maul" lsu, she should be happy he can learn under the best coach in the nation.

A friend who's son plays currently at Alabama told me on the in home visit Nick pretty much said whatever he wanted...and there were many awkward moments during the two hour meal at their house.. my nephew was there for the evening as well and pretty much said the same thing.....he's just not a small talker and actually can be quite rude and intimidating (hard to imagine because he's probably smaller than Lou Holtz and that's little)....But who can argue with his success....The type of guy I want to pal around with??? Absolutely not....But I also dont particularly care for my doctor but I go to him because I believe he knows what he's doing....FWIW!

He made his decision before the NC, after watching that game, hopefully he will remain with the best coach and program in the nation. RTR

Well the list is public, there is pre med, pre law, several business majors, didn't see any art history, must be a ut thing.:)

Several business majors, and since Alabama's business school is ranked as one of the best in the nation, that speaks for itself. One of the most positive things is the number of players who had already graduated before the NC.

Well it must mean alot, considering Alabama just won its 2nd NC in 3 years, has a #1 recruiting class again, and places 1st on SEC Student Academics. Think the thread started because a mom questioned those things. By the way where is ut ranked on these things? I didn't see the full list of SEC schools, I know there was no bowl game.

Well I see a lot of Pre-Business majors, maybe thats a Bama thing. Barrett Jones and David Blalock get a lot credit for majoring in accounting but the rest maybe not so much.
