New USC Coach Lane Kiffin is gone but hardly forgotten in Tennessee - latimes.com

Reporting from Knoxville, Tenn. - Lane Kiffin is dead here. He's never coming back.

His coffin was made of particle board and painted orange. It rested outside a sports bar and contained T-shirts, ticket stubs, posters and coffee mugs bearing phrases such as "Football in the Fast Lane" and "Get on board the Lane Train."

His wake elicited no tears, only balled fists and raised voices. No one seemed to mind speaking ill of the deceased. The locals called him a hypocrite and said he should be ashamed of himself.

Doesn't bother me to hear stories about the guy. I feel good knowing that LA and the surrounding area knows about our great state. I also feel good knowing they are publishing stories that are anti kiffin. Like it or not but this guy and his gutless staff will be talked about until the end of the world in the Tennessee circles and probably all of college football. It would be NICE if there were some other things to read about NOW like recruits coming on board or something of that nature, but there's not.

What is the reason so many waste their time on the X is doing...... Keep his name off this board, go to the USC sites and talk about him. A hot woman that he may have lost, could understand why you still be talking about her (with pictures of her of course !!) Get over it people..... Should be more concerned and talking about NSD and what happend with the BB team yesterday, you know VOL stuff since this is VOL forum !!!!

Like I said before, anything Lane Kiffin related doesn't deserve to be put in the Tennessee football forum anymore.

For him to be dead, there sure are a lot of threads on here and a lot of talk about him

Yup....this could be ugly for sometime. Bear B. made guest appearances for many years after they tossed the last shovel of dirt on him.

Fantastic, creative idea. Time for vol fans to spin this story in a positive direction because I doubt it goes away. IMO, next fall it will gain momentum.

Just an idea.

(I heard that) Vol officials are now saying that they were unhappy with monte's kid and the direction of the football program. They were pleased to discover that usc was willing to take the unaccomplished embarrassment off of their hands. UT officials had already begun preliminary plans to rid themselves of the slug and had organized a committee to begin searching for a head coach more worthy of the Vol's head coaching position.

I'm sure others could devise a better story.

I'd be happy to support any theory on any rival site (usc, etc.) in order to lend the anonymous rival credibility that message boards seem to thrive upon. :good!::eek:k::thumbsup::birgits_giggle::detective:

any story we might devise can't come close to matching the mental gymnastics that the UF faithful have been showing in supporting their Soap Opera star.
