It's sad to see upperclassmen fading when they should be leading the charge. Maybe he's banged up. :dunno:

This. He looked great in 2012. His YPC was much better than Neal's. Neal had a great senior year so Lane wasn't really talked about as the guy who needs to be getting more carries. This year was his year to shine and he is either struggling behind this o-line and a more talented Hurd isn't, or Lane is just laying an egg because he's mad the starting job isn't just his on merit.

He's looked tentative and slow. I like the guy and hope he gets it going

There is still 8 games to go, and I believe this guy will make some plays to help us win some games.

It is telling how Butch went out and got a RB who (as a Fr) looks largely more talented than a Sr recruited and developed by the previous staff.

Butch said he has an ankle issue which is why Lane got limited carries...Scott is going to get more reps in practice.

Hurd has hit the hole without hesitation and has done an incredible job in the pass blocking scheme. Lane has hesitated every time he's been handed the ball. I'm looking forward to Hurd being named the official starter, not that it'll make a difference in how much he's been played - he's the man to beat right now. I cannot wait to see what sort of beast this guy is going to develop into.

On a side note, GO VOLS!!!!! Played 4 quarters of incredible football and never gave up. Can't wait to see how badly we punish Florida next weekend for loosing this game ...

And a bruised ego... Should be his year and he has disappeared. Always go with the better younger player and it appears Scott will take his carries as the season moves forward

Felt like Lane was getting screwed before today. Just not getting enough touches to establish a rhythm. I know everyone is super excited about Hurd. I am too. But now I think his confidence is shaken some. I'd like to see what Marlin can do on some of the draws and things we seem to only run when Jalen is in the game.

Butch also said in the post game we had to find someone to rest Hurd. I didn't know about the ankle issue.
