So if I read this article right, Brown committed the same cardinal sin as Bruce Pearl of lying to NCAA investigators, yet his punishment was only a 9 game suspension. Not preaching for a return of Bruce, just pointing out how inconsistent their punishment system is. Pearl lies to the NCAA and gets a 3 year show cause. Brown lies to the NCAA and gets a 9 game suspension. Doesn't add up. Maybe the NCAA needs to be investigated?

Brown is one of their good 'ol boys, like Pitino, Bohiem, and Roy Williams. Anything short of video from five different angles, a smoking gun in their hand and 100 witnesses saying they did it will not result in anything meaningful.

This. If SMU had booted him then Brown would have been slapped with show cause. As is, they'll just serve sanctions. He could still be hit with show cause once he leaves SMU but at his age this is most likely his last big gig anyways.
