Since I am hearing so much optimism out there in Vol World, I thought I would throw this in for fun. Let's just go ahead and revamp the top three spots. Mr. Coker just took his team to some bowl where they thrashed perennial football power Nevada, so let's go ahead and give him CPF's job. Donnan's Georgia teams were defensive juggernauts as evidenced by his 0-1,000,000 record against the vols, so we will go ahead and give him Chief's job. As much as I like DC, I think Mike Shula needs something to do with the 12 million bammer just gave him to retire, so let him call the plays for Ainge and "invest" in some 5 star talent, and hope he doesn't tell the higher ups at bammer. For all you predicting a sixth place finish in the east next year, there is hope!

Those guys all got fired because they were losers. They couldn't win consistently with a their powerhouse football programs. If someone can't win at UT, they deserve to share the same fate as those three.

Coker never had a losing seaon, so he isn't a "loser".

Those programs had the guts to get rid of those guys in order to get their programs back on top. So when do we follow suit?

Coker's team got progressively worse every year he was at the helm.

Donnan could never get through his own division.

Shula...well..there is no use rehashing the Shula situation for the thousanth time.

Whether you are for or against Fulmer, there are significant differences in those three situations and his.

None of those guys made it eight years without winning a conference title.

Shula and Donnan never proved they could get it done by winning a title in the first place.

That's his point, they didnt give them 8 years to get 1, 8 years w/o a championship wasnt acceptable, and they were fired.

we went almost 50 years without a national championship. lets not kid ourselves, thats the reason fulmer is still here. he did what no one since neyland had done. and i am personally grateful i got to see the vols win one in my life and wouldve gladly traded the last 8 seasons for it. it sucks that we are not a top ten team anymore, but i am partially glad that we are sticking with the guy that got us our nc. it shows class. more class than most college teams these days.

and yes there are times i hate fulmer and cuss him for getting outcoached. but he won it all and the day after we all shouldve known that he would leave on his own terms. a few years ago i met a ut fan who was much older than me(in his upper 60's) and we got to talking about football and he said the best advice he could give a young vol was "get ready for 40 years of heartbreak cause the years like '98 dont come often." its a sad truth but fulmer will win enough to stay as long as he wants.

It's been pretty clear I want Fulmer out, and I would be willing to put up with this another year, but what really burns me is he is getting a raise and an extension this year, 2 years after his last one when since then he has a 5-6 season and a 9-4 season... This pretty much tells me he will be here until he leaves on his own terms, and who knows when that is.

I guess what it boils down to is this. He didn't do anything to earn the previous raise and extension. We lost the bowl game a few days later to Clemson and we've only won 1 bowl game since then. Plus, we missed a bowl all together last season.
