Wes Durham, the voice of Georgia Tech, just announced on the radio in Atlanta that he recieved word that Larry Munson's health is failing fast. Credible UGA insiders are also confirming the worst.

I resent him for the Hobnail boot call, but Larry is one of the greatest to ever call the game. SEC Icon. I wish nothing but the best for him and his family.

If not having any idea what's going on is your thing, then I would agree.

As of about half hour ago, he is listed in stable condition at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, Ga., recovering from a respiratory infection. FWIW

He was one of the last announcers that carried no sense of impartiality. He is loved by UGA fans, and is hated by everyone else.

Isn't he the bowler in the movie "Kingpin". You just got Munsoned.

I didn't much care for what little I heard of his work, but too bad about his health.

I hope the best for him, but he was horrible to listen to on the radio. You never knew what was actually going on on the field due to his descriptions. He was always to busy being folksy.

I have never understood anyone's fascination with him as an announcer.

Didn't like the 2001 game call but loved the 1997 game call due to our freshman RB (from GA, made it even better)

I don't like the Dawgs, but Munson was one of the best announcers that ever called a football game. He was a homer and made no bones about it. When I lived in Atlanta, the only way I could hear a Tennessee- Georgia played in the afternoon was to listen to Munson call the game. I never had a problem nothing exactly what was going on in the game even though the comments were always pro Georgia, anti Tennessee.
