Last Chance for Butch to show he can

my no blow out point is that it should not have derailed as quickly as it did today or at oregon, we kept running the so called fastest offense in football causing the team to fall further behind faster. all i wanted was competitive games for at least a half. but whatever.

Pop quiz. When's the last time, other than Kentucky, have we won outside the state of Tennessee?

Are you 12? I've seen more convincing arguments written in crayon.

this thread is a joke. Gets a big win last week and now some guy is unhappy because the number 1 and 2 teams in the nation did what was expected of them.

You say that Butch needs to prove that he can win on the road... then you try to bring up that we haven't won on the road in three years. You understand that Butch wasn't our coach for those three years, right?

Dude, WTF??

This is the silliest damn post I have read today...we have had freshmen and walkons starting against the number one and number two teams in the nation...we have been down in recruiting for years...we have had 4 head coaches in 6 years...I could go on and on.

And those aren't excuses...they're REASONS.

I am just happy right now that they have won the ones they were supposed to, stole one they weren't supposed to win, are showing that they are better coached, better prepared, better conditioned, don't give up and fight for 4 quarters instead of laying down like they have for the past three years.

No excuses...STFU.

Not to mention that UT beat the team that just beat the #5 team in the nation.

Tennessee took on the #1 and #2 ranked teams, on the road and were beaten handily by the opponent.

The improvement should be noted though that team #117 didn't quit. They didn't just lay down or throw in the towel prior to the end of the game. Something other teams fielded over the years can't say.

Improvement is there and it may be in small amounts in areas that are not commonly discussed, but it's visible.

We were out matched by talent, depth and experience. Until at least 2 of these change we won't beat any of the top tier teams. UGA and USCe were good wins for us, but UGA was a depleted team and I would say not top tier team they always under perform. USCe was a great win for the program, but was also at home and that made a huge difference. We will get there, it will take some time.

There are some bright spots for us, freshman are getting some playing time. Dobbs looks good and showed great promise for the future in a tough road game. We still need to replace the walkons and lower tier players with better players. The 2014 recruiting class will be a great start on that. I still think we win 2 (Vandy, Kentucky), possibly 3 (Auburn at home) more and make a bowl game. That will be a good first year for CBJ.

The one thing that scares me about Mizzou is their team speed. Which happens to be our weakness on D.

This board has turned into garbage. OP has a viewpoint but never mind that, let's just attack him if he doesn't agree with the company line at all times. Here's mine so flame away-I think the biggest play to date was Shaw getting hurt last week. I don't believe we win that game if he stays in-and then how would you feel about this team?
All op is saying is that, outside of Carolina, we have gotten pounded by the teams we thought we would lose to, and beaten the teams we thought we would fairly easily, outside of South Alabama.
I don't get the euphoria that seems to be rampant on here-ok, we played the best team in the country tonight. But how much worse could it have been? In other words, if you're taking all of these positives from tonights game, what would it have taken for you to feel any concern?

yeah so we played the top 2 teams on the road, they should have not been blowouts, that is my main point. the next step for this team is to get a nice road win this season and their last chance is saturday. oh well whatever. let's just try and beat missouri and not let it be a blowout regardless of their rank is that to much to ask??? go vols!!! we should beat missouri. tiny guaranteed it.

You are a complete moron. I see yesterday for what it is, Alabama's defense is stifling, Oregon won 40 something to 14 over UCLA, and frankly our guys were worn out before they hit the field. That happens when you have Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama back to back to back. We played maybe our worst game since Oregon but we were outmatched from the get go. The only way to close that gap is what Jones is doing recruiting like hell because it is the Jimmy's and Joe's.
