``He's a young guy and he wants to be successful, but I don't know if he knows what the definition of team is right now.''
Just ask rousch racing what the term team means .

Stewart again showed his ass last nite. He takes out his own teammate then blames him for it since nothing is ever Tony's fault. Classic Stewart.

Wether it had been lap 1 or 200 it would have been Denny's fault....just ask Tony

Tony should know better he is to good a driver to act like this.

Tony has ALWAYS acted like this, even in his USAC days here in Indiana. It's a shame because the guy is maybe the most talented guy to ever drive a car....but he has the brain of a piss ant.

first of all, nobody, no matter how stupid they may be, is dumb enough to wreck their own teamate on purpose, 14 laps into a race. nobody. to think otherwise is assinine.

second, Tony is one of those guys who when you put a microphone in his face, what comes out is exactly what he is thinking at that exact moment in time. people like Tony (and i know because i have the same problem to a lesser degree) have a problem not be able to think 'man, should i really say this?' it happens and it's what you get with Tony. let's face it, the best time to talk to Tony is not right after he gets out of the race car. but the media thrives on that coverage and they know Tony is an easy target.

however, will anybody be there when he talks to Denny, after watching a replay, and sees what happens? will there be any coverage of his apology which i'm sure will come on his radio show Tuesday night? i doubt it. he backs off things he says all the time, but nobody ever seems to be around for that.

what makes me mad is he was in the exact same situation at the exact same track earlier this year, except he was in Denny's position.

in no way am i saying that the media is to blame for his actions. the only person to blame is for Tony is Tony. he's not going to change and the media is going to continue to focus on that.

i know i will be tuned in to his show on Tuesday night to here what he has to say when he has time to reflect on what actually happened.

I know he did not do it on purpose but he did make a bad call by driving up on Denny so close that earlie in the race. Yes is is one of the best.

The difference being that Stewart got very loose before Kurt made contact with him. It's hard for us to tell what happened to Hamlin, but he didn't get sideways like Stewart did in February to cause that accident.

oh definately. i think instead of holding his foot to the floor like Tony did, he backed off. and that caused the problem.

Denny was tight instead of loose, so he eased up, not expecting Tony to be on his bumper that early in the race... if I were Joe Gibbs, I would make a rule that Tony cant talk to the media until he cools down for atleast 2 hours, he makes himself look like an idiot time after time

Gotta agree with you on Tony. Tony should have backed off and then tried to get past Denny later on that lap. Tony is a little over zealous right now and if he doesn't back off he won't win a race all season. That a good way to win friends and influence people by what he did. I wouldn't be surprised that he got a speech from Gibbs after the race and Denny too.

just once, ONCE, I would love for Stewart just to admit he was at fault in a wreck... just once! unbelievable.

for whatever reason his show was on tonight.

it was about what i expected from him. he admittted he probably went to far on Saturday night and that he wants to sit down with Denny and find out exactly what happened. he went on to say he hasn't had the chance to watch the replay and would like to hear from Denny. he also said he called Denny today but figured Denny was busy, more than likely he was out on the lake. he said he has no ill will towards Denny and is looking forward to talking to him.

by next weekend these guys will be back to being friends and teamates, once agian proving that people make way more out things Tony says in the heat of the moment than needed.

....and the cycle continues

I want to like Tony, I really do, hes a great driver and seems like a cool person but then he pulls this crap over and over....he hasnt had a chance to see the replay???!! I wish Denny wouldve just said someone needs to tell Tony to get off my bumper that early in a race, esp while everyone out there was having a hard time with the handling

If the media would give people a chance to cool off before shoving a microphone in their face right after an accident it would help. They want drivers to say things in the heat of the moment. They know by now that Tony is one of the best ones to go to and get some good drama after a wreck and they take advantage of it.

Blame the media?? Give me a break. I've seen many, many drivers say it was a "racing deal", or it was there fault or even say no comment...but Tony always is quick to blame everyone but himself. How many times have we seen Tony still whining the next weekend about what happened the week before? How long of a cool off peroid should we give poor ol' Smokie?

well of course thats what they want, thats what I want too, I like to see the drivers show emotion... I just hate that Tony never blames himself... theres been plenty of times I thought Jr might blow up on camera but he usually just says "thats racin" and moves on... like I said before, if I were Joe Gibbs, I wouldnt let Tony talk to the cameras for a few hours

Calm down there Sparky. I didn't blame the media. People shouldn't be surprised anymore when drivers say things in the heat of the moment when a microphone is shoved in their face immediately following a wreck. Tony has been guilty of blaming someone else, but he has also taken the blame as well. The people that don't like Stewart only focus on the times he has blamed someone else before cooling off.

When has Stewart blamed himself? I would love to hear of a time he has took the blame for a wreck, because I have yet to see him do it? And guess what, having a microphone shoved in your face after a wreck is part of it... it's going to happen, get used to it. Grow up Tony and find some maturity and when that microphone gets shoved in your face you'll know how to control yourself and not end up looking like a 2 yr old every time.

He doesn't "always" take the blame. Two instances that I can think of off the top of my head were at the Daytona 500, Stewart was hit by Busch, who initially, and unrightfully took the blame. Stewart's response: "My fault." New England, Stewart missed his pit box. Basically calls himself a dumba$$ and apologizes to his crew for screwing up so badly.

There were other times too, but you get the point. People only want to focus on the times he loses his cool.
