Just wanted to put my two cents in as well, and as usual, I haven't had time to sit down and type til now. This game caught my attention in a number of ways good and bad and I felt the need to bring them up.

Pros:
- Worley, maybe he's not the greatest around but the kid played very well all things considered. He looked calm, composed, and tough despite getting hit A LOT.

-WRs, I feel like this aspect will only get better and despite certain plays we still managed to get decent play against ridiculous competition.

-Hurd, I think he's the future. Plain and simple, he has the tools, speed, and vision and it will only get better.

-Defense, they truly kept us in the game IMO. Johnson is a beast. Our CBs looked good too.

Cons:
-O line obviously, I won't beat this into the dirt, but remember still, these are young BOYS, versus MEN basically. They did about as well as they could I suppose.

-Croom, he had a bad night but I hope he bounces back for Georgia, we'll need him. He needs to use that size.

-Officiating, once again, I won't beat a dead horse here as we can't control this

Takeaways:

Overall I think we should be proud and I don't feel the numbers are a real indicator of the game. After this performance, we need to realize that we have the ability to hang with and beat any team on our schedule. OU will probably go to the playoffs. They very well may be the best team we play all year. I like our chances moving forward to make a bowl and maybe a respectable one. Time will tell. Go Vols.

May be wrong but the OL isnt really THAT young just inexperienced. My issue is everyone who not only bashed last years OL but said these guys would be nasty and surprise people. I'm confident they will improve but I knew they would be horrrible.

So the only one I've had a problem is would be Croom. Dude should be killing them but he has good games and will be fine by seasons end. The defense and Worley are awesome.

Why, why, why do we line up with an empty backfield on the 3 yard line with about 1 1/2 yards to go for a first down? That formation freed up the LB's for pass coverage and the ensuing interception and score. My point being, at least have Jalen lined up behind Worley to keep the defense honest.

When they lined up I thought they were clearing the middle for Worley to run it in.

Good summary, OP. I said it another thread, and it bears repeating:

@ORE - much more veteran team, got obliterated and embarrassed
@OKLA - much more youth on the field, competed for 4 quarters, showed we belong on the big stage.

The future is bright, my VN friends !

when you're starting TWO TRUE freshmen on the OL, I think that qualifies as "young"..?

WilliamDuVol has a very good account of the game. While we lost the game one must be proud of the effort that the team gave. I would think that Worley spent most of Sunday in the ice/hot tubs.

I think you could tell that the AP voters did not watch the game. Anybody with half a brain would have it increased the total number of votes for the top 25, leaving them just outside, versus eliminating them from receiving any votes. JMO

34- 10 says it all.

Gotta disagree. It says very little. If anything, the score would have been way worse if not for our defense and factor in a questionable call and two picks. Seriously, they could have rolled us but we didn't allow it.

No it really doesn't this time.

Absolutely does not tell the story of this game. Croom fights for the ball or a better decision by Worley on that 100 yd interception and the worst this team is looking at is a 27-17 loss BUT possibly a better outcome for the Vols. This is not much of a reach. And that's not factoring in some questionable calls from the zebras.

I'm not much on moral victories, but this was a game when past Vol teams, past meaning Kiffin and Dooley, would have folded up the tents in the 1st half. Outside of 2 missed coverages, the defense bowed up and showed up. Cam Sutton is a Sunday player. Okie is much more talented on both sides of the ball and that is a testament to the buy in by the players and the coaching from the staff. JMO

At this point, who would you want coaching this team, Coach Jones or Fedora, Muschump and others? To me, Muschump looks a lot like Zook outside of the losses to us (under Zook). Fedora will lose by double digits to ECU this weekend after getting destroyed at home last year by this same team. I really like we're this team is right now.

GO VOLS!

I don't agree with you often but I do in this case. That was a 27-17 type game barring the 14 point swing on the int.

The scoreboard tells a bit of a different story in this case.

My takeaway is that no team in the SEC East is as good as OU. We can potentially be in all those games. We should go bowling this year.
