Poor guy cant catch a break. He gets chosen to play in a showcase game and his team's D gives up 34 so far! Is Sal coaching the D? On the bright side McShay seems to love him and says he thinks he'll play a long time in the NFL. Let's hope he's right cause there's not a bigger warrior IMO that's ever stepped foot in neyland stadium considering what this kid has battled through. Thanks for being a VFL Herman and we all wish you the best!

Lathers is definitely a VFL but I doubt he will see more than special teams play in the nfl. Injuries has got the best of him. Hope he proves me wrong.

It just never ceases to amaze me the negativity some of you guys have. Can't you just say something positive? Are you a NFL scout, or are you just throwing out your opinion based on absolutely nothing. I've got news for you, he IS an NFL caliber LB and I'm pretty confident he will play as a LB, not just a special teams player. :banghead2:

The chances of him being right is much greater than your chances. Just the way it is.

Maybe, maybe not. Based on everything that is being said, his prospects are very good.

Just tired of the haters.

JPS, if you're tired of haters, you might try something to read other than message boards. I've never seen so much hate for Tennessee players. Makes me wonder what kind of life some of the posters have. A sad, miserable life comes to mind though :yes::yes:

He's not being negative, he's just stating the most likely scenario.

I'm not overreacting, just tired of everybody assuming the worst for our players. Not sure how you guys are so sure he'll never start at LB, I guess you know more than the experts who have raved about him.

All we've read for the last few weeks is how bad Bray will suck in the NFL and now it's Lathers will only play special teams.

I for one, hope they all start and have long successful NFL careers.

Lathers had to be the slowest LB we had last year. He was deadly to the defense on pass plays and not real physical on run plays. Yeah, he might have been the best we had last year but what does that really mean with the D we had? I can't see him playing in the NFL long.

Seems most nfl scouts feel differently.

During the game the announcers were raving about HL and they said the scouts and coaches were impressed with him all week.

I was surprised that during the game they also said he has great coverage skills against the pass so I guess he found some extra speed along the way.

Negative ninnies said the same tire garbage about a certain Tennessee RB that wasn't even drafted.

I believe he's now the starting RB for the Houston Texans and is earning many Millions of $$$$$$.

NOTE....Never forget that many people on here are NOT real Tennessee fans...just trolls trying everything they can think of to keep hurting our reputation and recruiting because deep down inside they FEAR our footVol team coming back.

I wish HL all the luck in the world and he's a great young man.

I had a class with the guy a few years back. He was the friendliest guy who was really passionate about his religion. He invited me to church a few times after I told him I hadn't been to one in a few years.

that's pretty cool, the good ones don't nearly get the same press as the bad ones...tis a shame, would be good to hear more stories like that (you know, without the whole fake gf manti teo thing)

I agree...Herman was a beast before his latest injury bug...go back and watch the '10 Bama game and see him run through Heisman Mark Ingram in the first half on a blitz!

It was obvious that he was hampered by the last injury during his last season---but he definitely can play when back to full speed....just ask Bryce Brown who knocked him out in his first practice! :salute:
