Pessimistic is the best way to put it.

Edit to my above pic-post: I'm just having fun. :)

If I were in your place, I'd be pessimistic too. Memphis definitely has talent, they just gotta put it all together and complete the game.

I know I would but isn't Coach Martin pretty much a man defense only style coach?

That's what I've heard, but after watching how a rudimentary 2-3 zone completely neutralized Memphis, I'm sure he'd consider it.

However, without putting any practice in, running a zone would be more of a liability than an advantage.

Nearly everyone zone from coach to coach is run the same from middle school to college (except for Boeheim). A 2-3 zone is easy to play and could be installed in an hour. I wouldn't do it though if they haven't practiced it at least a week.

If Tennessee is smart then they run a different defense every other possession and most of these are zones. Memphis is extremely talented, but hasn't figured out how to play yet. They will figure it out midway through the season, then get lulled to sleep by CUSA play.

Memphis wins today. They'll be mad that Michigan took them totally out of their gameplan. They stopped slashing and started launching 3s. Won't happen two games in a row.

CCM doesn't do zone, but Memphis is the perfect candidate. We should consider never leaving the paint.

I'm pretty sure I read they practiced some zone before the season started. Probably not a lot, but you still have to know how to run a zone if your man to man isn't working, and I'm sure CCM didn't completely leave zone out of the playbook entirely.

Hearing via twitter that Memphis may be without some players due to the flu.

That would explain why Stan Simpson got 2 minutes of PT yesterday. Not good.

I know it as a "match-up zone." movement and assignments of a zone, but the guard play is like man-to-man.

Slacking man and matchup zone are vastly different things. I guarantee Cuonzo isn't just going to institute a matchup zone in this game unless he's been practicing it.

Per reports from Lahaina: Several players, staff and accompanying guests were suffering from "food poison-like" symptoms on Sunday and into Monday. Coaches just reported in pre-game that all Tiger players have been cleared for the UT game.

Does UT throw any sort of zone at the Tigers after yesterday's display, in your opinion?

Id be shocked to see any zone. Martin lives and dies by man to man. He might have some wrinkles to make it look a little different, but don't expect any zone whatsoever.
