allrighty, so it was from a former KRQE guy, but the story is there.

He sounded pretty confident he'd be coaching by next season the last I heard him be interviewed. That was a while ago too, soooooooo, we'll see.

Droski, give me the cliff notes version of whats up at ASU. Are they shopping for coaches now or are you making a guess that the position would be open?

We dont get much PAC10 news over here, so I kinda go off what you post most times.

Erickson is dead man walking unless he makes a bowl game and even then they might fire him or he might retire. Their offense is truly horrible and they have a hard schedule so that seems pretty unlikely. they did show some signs of life against wisconsin though. Also burfict, by far their best player, is 50/50 to go blount on somebody (on or off teh field) and get kicked off the team.

i bet he could get the ASU job if he waited.

He could still jump ship. I doubt he stays at New Mexico if ASU comes calling regardless of how long he's been there. He might look like a Kiffin, but money talks baby.

wow, sounds like they'll be rebuilding one way or the other. Thanks for the heads up.

As for Leach, our local guy is talking about it now.

They're looking at how strange this would be in the middle of the season, but apparently, that's whats going around. Just a weird situation, but what else would you expect from the pirate?

I think being out west suits him better really. He's always kinda been that kinda person.

If Arizona State hires Mike Leach, the PAC 10 should expel them from the league.

I'd agree as a head coach, but what did you think of his work over at Ou? Is that where this opinon you have of him was formed, or was it later on when he went to Lubbock?

to add to the irony, Dennis Franchonie was turned away at New Mexico prior to the start of the year. Or so I've heard.

I know he is still here in North East Bryan living at the Country Club though.

I don't buy it. He dispelled the rumors today on his talk show anyhow. Leach will end up at a small time program in a big time league- Vandy, Illinois, etc.

I always thought he and Lubbock were a good fit for eachother. No way leach would have any sustained success in the PAC 10 as a coach unless he somehow managed to get a top level d coordinator.

He wasn't at OU long enough to do anything. Mangino did the heavy lifting on the offensive staff in the early Stoops days.

Arizona state has every bit the capacity to be a perennial top 3 team in the PAC 10. Erickson is gone soon one way or another, it's time they made a big hire.

Especially considering they have the most lax admissions in the Pac-10.
