Hooker and Wright were the two alpha dog leaders for this squad in the locker room last season.

Beasley and McCoy and Mays and Thomas can be those alpha dogs this season.

Thoughts from the board?

I think Milton has to go also. I just dont think Nico is ready just yet. Probably mid season if joe can stay healthy that long

It sounds too me like the players need to ask the coaches for a meeting. The players need to communicate with the coaches and spill their hearts and how they feel about the situation openly and very clearly so the coaches can see how they feel. If they do not do this is will be a long years that we as fans do not care to deal with. And most of all get the players feelings out in the open !!!!

Leadership on all these college teams seems to be a issue these days. Wasn't the case back in the day. Are they afraid to speak their minds? Isn't that what a players only meeting is about? The social structure today is so much different than it used to be.

IMO, there are several players playing that really should not be playing. This always has a negative impact on the rest of the team, any team, any sport.

Lowers moral and confidence when the players know that the best eleven aren't out on the field.

**cough, cough, Hadden, Small, Joe**

I’m not quite ready to throw the towel in on Milton yet. Part of me thinks if he’s replaced now then Heupel loses the team since the offensive woes are caused by several people.

Going to be twice as hard to do after crapping the bed against a miserably bad team.
One of the guys you mentioned is on a mic after the game talking about how players weren't confident that they'd have success. Why even line up and play then?

McCoy’s comments are worrisome, because he is insinuating that the players don’t believe in the QB. That never bodes well.

I’m afraid that this likely is true. You can fool the fans, but you can’t fool the guys who show up for practice every day. They know.

Yeah, I agree with this. I was pissed Sat. night and wanted Nico to start immediately but after thinking about it more, I think that would be unwise. I do think we need to simplify some things for Milton, e.g. Kiffen/Crompton . so that he can do do the up-tempo offense at least some of the time. Tell him if things don't look right as the play develops, just take off upfield and protect yourself.

He could be saying he doesn’t trust the playcalling or the o-line as well. We all know for sure in the next few games, because they will either get this stuff fixed or the team will implode.

It’s likely all of it, but we all know that offense starts with the QB.

I don't think that's the issue in most college football locker rooms. I do believe that is the case in locker rooms of other sports, and with the population in general. I pray that's not what's going on in the majority of college football locker rooms. I could totally be wrong, though.

Alot being dumped on Milton. The success of this offense, or any offense for that matter, is the ability not to give open invitations to the backfield nearly every play. Line got manhandled miserably in the first half. There is not a QB in the country that could have single handedly overcome that and been brilliant. I didn't see any of the APSU game, but the fact we barely got 200 yards passing tells me it was again the line, or Milton, or a healthy combo. Saturday was as much of a team effort at losing as you will see. Totally emotionless.

Conversely, we did move the ball in the second haf, and Milton was getting her done, but the officiating I saw killed two potential scoring drives that would affect the outcome of the game. The Zebras were horrific and completely one sided in the penalty calls. They probably affected our play far more than anything FL did outside of making us eat mud pies on the lines the first half. We did howver find the adjustments and hold FL to only a field goal the second half.

The sad thing is that they already have simplified things to their most basic level.
