Tolerance levels sure have changed. Ohio State HC Woody Hayes, one of the great college coaches of all time, was promptly fired for hitting a player from an opposing team (pic above). His coaching career ended as a result that one incident in which he inexplicably lost control. LeGarrett Blount (over-reaction to taunting) and Brandon Spikes (pre-meditated act) received suspensions.

I don't think players hitting players is as bad as coaches hitting players.
