Tonight's loss at MVC bottom feeder Missouri State indicates Auburn will have a new coach when they open their arena next year.

I was about to post the same. Ugly start for the SEC West. . .

Alabama loses to Cornell
Auburn loses to Missouri State
Mississippi State loses to Rider

I realize Auburn's loss was on the road. But, regarding the frequent pre-conference upset losses at home by SEC teams, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that most SEC teams get almost no support from their fans until after football season. UK will sell out. Tennessee will have large crowds. A few others like Florida and Arkansas will have a few thousand show up. But, for most SEC schools, I turn the game on, and it looks like there are no more than 500 people there. There are always tons of empty lower-level seats. That has to be at least a partial explanation why teams like Mississippi State always play better once conference play starts. MSU has at least a couple of scratch-your-head losses in November and December every year.

Auburn loses to Central Florida. Time to start compiling a list of possible replacements.

I wonder if Greg Marshall (I think that's his name) from Wichita State and formerly from Winthrop might be a good choice for the Barn?

Didnt they used to be called SWMC? Just got university status recently. Kinda like my hometown MWSC is now MWSU. Just changed a couple of years ago. Former NAIA squads.

Who do you think they will target?
I'm going to assume Auburn will, as always, try to hire an up and comer on the cheap. Cliff Warren from Jacksonville fits that mold. I actually wouldn't be shocked if they gave Tony Jones a call. Ken McDonald would be another option.

Warren has definitely turned Jacksonville around in a short period of time

He's a year away from having a really, really good team at Wichita. I know him a little bit and I'd wager he's too smart to pass up a good run in the Valley to try and fix Auburn. Also, he's making a bunch of money. Not sure Barn would pay him what he's already making.

I see. I can see him being a candidate for a BCS conference job in the near future. He seems to be really solid. I would imagine with the new investment in the Barn's bball program that they will try to get someone decent. I also wouldn't be surprised to hear Brad Stephens name pop up.

My guess is that he's watching what's happening to his predecessor in Iowa City now and thinking how lucky he is to be at Butler.

You may be exactly right, but I still wouldn't be surprised to see the Barn target him.

My amateur observation on Lebo is that he seems to be a pretty solid X's and O's coach, especially defensively, who can't recruit to save his life. It seems like his teams have one or two legit SEC-caliber players, and a bunch of castoffs and scrubs. Can't win if you have no talent.
