The University of Miami men's basketball team will be sporting LeBron James-branded Nike gear this coming season thanks to a sponsorship deal with the Miami Heat superstar, two sources said Friday.

James will also be sponsoring Ohio State and Kentucky.

Miami players were told the news by coach Jim Larranaga on Thursday.

James' publicist, Keith Estabrook, said he wouldn't comment on the matter and directed all questions to Nike, which didn't immediately return an email from the Sun Sentinel.

James, who has been active in promoting his brand, follows in the footsteps of Michael Jordan, whose Jordan Brand is the official equipment supplier of his alma mater, North Carolina.

Yuck.

Going to love being perennial losers like Lebron :)

Miami never gonna win a championship.

Kentucky never gonna win a championship if they keep relying on freshman and sophomores.

Ohio State was heading in the right direction but if they couldn't win it all with Oden and Conley or with last years team, they'll probably never win it all either.

So in the end, they can wear whatever they want at those schools. But it's not going to help them win a championship and it's fitting they'll be wearing gear of a guy that's never won a championship either. They all about the money yo!

I have no idea why you apparently think UK has a less than 50 % chance of winning it all next year. It's practically written in the stars at this point.

I would say stick to talking about what you know, but it's not apparent to me just yet what that might be. However, you're right about one thing, Miami will not be cutting nets down.

Not that Cal needed it, but it is another small advantage. Lebron came to a UK game to do the celebrity "Y" season before last, Im sure Wall will be back to do it soon, and so on. Kids go to Lebron camp, Lebron gives them shoes, Wes gives them a hug and its a win/win. Until we one day go down in flames like a dumpster fire.

I'd say so because the field has some chance and UNC is a bit better.

Championships are funny, especially in a single elimination format. But you can bet that if organizations like Kentucky, or Miami, keep throwing teams out there that are at the top of the talent chart, they are going to bring home some gold eventually.

I'll take even money on Miami.
