I lkive in Baton Rouge and just listened to the Les Miles press conference at lunch.

It seems when he was the OC at Ok St he played in Neyland and lost.

He does not seem to be too impressed being a visitor to Neyland in terms of the home crowd advantage,

Let's change his mind this weekend!

Also, his comments about the strengths and weaknesses of our beloved VOLS was 100% accurate..very scary.

I hope someone from the football staff monitors these types of radio shows.

Hmmm...

Mr. Big Hat must not have shown up that day in 1995.

Peyton and the Vols beat OK State 31-0.

I am guessing everybody was quieter because they were BORED!

OK, he has pointed out our weaknesses. Let's see if he can do anything about it.

If they win this weekend, it will not be because of his coaching, but because of Saban's talent.

I dont think our crowd will help us that much. Theyve already played at Auburn and the Swamp, last year's seccg, and im sure they think their hma is louder. You know we'll never hear the end of the tremor or whatever they felt at that one home game.

LSU puts more talent on the team bus right now than any team in the conference. That alone is enough to worry the heck out of me this week.

That being said, this Tennessee team has a way about it that is impressive. Will they be able to overcome all that talent? I honestly do not know, I didn't think so at the start of the season.
But it'll be a heck of a game to watch I think.

I agree that he is not a gameday coach....but if he keeps the great recuiting up along with hiring of compotent coordinators, that'll be good enough for me.

Little bit of LSU trivia...if Miles wins against Tennessee, I believe it marks him entering history as the most successful first 2 years any coach has ever had (at LSU).

Remember, Saban dropped 3 in 04 with "his" talent coming off a NC, including a blowout and a squeaker against Oregon State (Thank you OSU, now USC fans can't poke fun at us about it anymore). Some of the recruits that are starting to play now, are ones that had little interest with LSU, but suddenly commited when Saban left.

Don't deride the man's achivements by stating that it was really done by someone else. Especially considering that Saban didn't hold that talent together coherently through the strain of the 05 season, only melting down for the second half of the Tennessee game and for the SECCG.

Absolutely. I hope you guys keep Miles around indefinitely.

Well, Les Miles went 11-2 last year with the team that Nick went 9-3 with. He went to the SECCG in his rookie year in the SEC, winning at an 82% clip, and blew away Miami 40-3 in the bowl game. Where exactly is the evidence of poor coaching?

Two of the four classes now playing are Miles' recruits and LSU recruits in his first two years have averaged 3.7 stars, the same as Nick's recruits did. Right now LSU is ranked #8 in recruiting with 3.45 stars per player.

The "winning with Nick's players" line really can't be used much longer.

I'm just not convinced that Big Hat is that good of a coach.

A 24-point choke job will do that. A 24-point choke job to a 5-6 ballclub will REALLY do that.

I did, however, LOVE that Peach Bowl win.

:good!:

Yeah, there are a lot of people that need to be sold even in our own fanbase...but:

That isn't a reason. Firstly, I see a comparison between Tenn 05 and Auburn 03. The talent that is winning your games didn't just suddenly appear this year. At the time, you weren't 5-6, you were a NC contender. Also, look at when you played. LSU couldn't practice for a couple of days beforehand (indoor fields or not....there was a hurricane), and combined with the fact that we were still dealing with Katrina.

The LSU fan excuse/explaination for it is that we went into the game with sheer discipline making us stay on edge....the knowledge that we would have to perform our best to hang with ya'll. And then we dominate starting from the first kickoff. The discipline from our nesscessity to stay on edge broke down, and the mommentum shifted. And here we are....

Those are all good points. You do have to give the man credit for holding the team together through the worst disaster in modern memory.

You're ralking about a guy who came out for the opener last year wearing a Brittany Spears style headset and thinking he was going to be able to hear.

Maybe Les isn't the best judge of the effects of crowd noise.

Im no miles basher...he hasnt had time to prove anyone wrong yet. But...what he and the TEAM did last year was amazing. I think the players had a lot more to do with that then people give them credit for. Miles is still recruiting well because kids want to play at schools like LSU, TN, and places where they know if they succeed they will be playing in the Pro.'s. I forget the exact number for LSU, but i know no other conference has more players in the pro.'s than the SEC and that means a lot to kids looking for a future.
