some of you actually believed that we could match up athletically with OU? Then, when we weren't able to it's all over now and we might as well not play another game? If you can't see vast improvement in this team even with playing a lot of freshman then you are too unintelligent to give an opinion. We outplayed OU defensively in the second half and were able to run the ball as well. By the way, OU is by far the best team we will play all year and will more than likely be in the final four teams. We got worked over in the 1st quarter but played well the rest of the way. I am sorry CBJ couldn't beat a national contender on the road with virtually no veteran players.

Everywhere but the oline I felt we did. Even with the crap oline we had our chances. Youth and mistakes kept that from being a closer game. In truth I don't know what you wanted commentary on but those were just my observations.

I agree we did a solid job against a championship team and it will make us better down the road

I think you are referring to the sunshine pumping Vol fans. I realized we were outmatched talent/experience wise against the #4 team in the nation and came away quite pleased with what I saw from our young team last night. These boys got a lot of fight and pride in them, and if that continues we will go bowling and may even surprise a team or two along the way. We are an offensive line away from really competing for the east title. I don't expect to win the east this year by no means, but it is not out of the realm of possibility with a little improvement on the offensive line.

Oklahoma's offense scored 45 points and 48 points in their first two games.

Our defense limited them to 27. And 7 of those were due to the Big XII replay crew ignoring a fumble that should have given us the ball. Instead, they got to keep it and scored a bonus TD before the end of the first half. Take away that score and our defense shuts them out in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

So giving up 27 points on the road to a team like Oklahoma (or 20 points, if you prefer to think of it that way) is definitely a big sign of improvement.

Agree w/Hacksaw. I was at a sports bar and couldn't hear the refs explanation as to why the fumble/non-fable call stood, or did he even give one? Was an obvious fumble to me. If the ref didn't explain it, did anyone else watching hear an explanation from the tv announcers even? Just curious.

I love this team and BJ. But our play calling sucks. We took pig and north out of the game, never released our te's and when you have 3rd and two from the 4 yard line, you got two downs to make a TD or first down and throw it into double coverage. That is on our stupid OC period.

Even the announcers acknowledged that it was a questionable call. ABC even had a referee who helps the network explain the rules/replays/etc give his opinion that the call should be a fumble.

Maybe Fowler and Herbie don't have to hate us while on ABC instead of ESPN?

I can see why the ref thought it was dead - the way we propped him up looked like he was on the ground.

The back/left knee in the replay video was really difficult to see whether or not it was down.

Indisputable is hard to get in a situation like that.

The VOLS showed no quit, they left it all on the field. There were youthful mistakes because we are youthful, the quarterback kept on getting up and executing, the coaches kept coaching. Tennessee has a winners attitude and with experience and improvement is going to punch some people in the mouth as they move forward. Thank you both young and veterans alike for playing hard and trying to win, also thank you coaches. GO VOLS

Our guys played hard, kept their heads up, and most noticeably didn't quit. Growing pains are painfully Frustrating, remember the lessons learned and get ready for those hobnail booted dawgs.

They said the runner's knee was down before he lost possession. The replay did not support that contention. But it wouldn't be the first time Big XII replay officials tried to help their team in a non-conference game. A crew was just suspended for that very same thing in a game last week.

They saw what they wanted to see. The replay showed when both knees hit the ground and the ball was out before either knee touched down. Like I said, not the first time for these kinds of shenanigans. Not saying we would have won, but it was a huge break for the Sooners.

There's no denying that our team was deflated after that missed call. As bad as I would like to see our team put on more steam, that's a tall order for such a young team
