who knows, maybe the land that was taken illegally from them

None was.

"To remain ignorant of history is to remain forever a child."
Cicero (of course Hitler claimed that as one of his own sayings and mocked the world when decided on his 'final solution' for the 'Jewish problem' by saying; "who remembers two million Armenians?")

Don't you know, God promised this patch of desert to them in his role as a cosmic real estate broker. It can't be illegal if God says so.

^ Lame, but not surprising.

You don't think religion played a part in the Jews getting this particular piece of land on the Mediterranean?

Call it lame all you want, but the point isn't without merit.

Which mosque do you attend???

Oh, wait, you read DU and KOS instead???

There are plenty of Arabs who live peacefully in Israel, with equal rights and without oppression.

They live better than Christian arabs in the west bank, Gaza and Southern Lebanon.

As a matter of fact any Christians left in Lebanon live in protected areas they have fortified to protect themselves from radical Islamo/fascist who teach their children they are the only ones who have a right to live anyway!!!

Those arabs in the refugee camps in Gaza chose to leave Israel of their own volition.

Your sarcasm is way misplaced and offensive to any thinking man!

I would say you have your head cosmic buried in your cosmic buttocks!

such a big uproar over a piece land that is a speck in size compared to the whole middle east. there has to be some reason why arabs have hated jews for hundreds of years.

This is the only sentence of your post that has any relevance to what I said. That is impressive, even for you.

Arabs have hated every other religion, by decree, for hundreds of years. We are all infidels and crusaders. It is just that the Jews now are occupying one of their "holy sites" and they don't like it.

It's not the fact that the Jews want to have a homeland that irritates them, it is that they want this particular piece of land. If it were anywhere else they would care less. But, again, God promised this land to the Jews so they want to be there. And, God promises 72 virgins to all martyrs and infidel killers, so they have an excuse to attack.

Religion has really made this problem easier.

That and the fact that they lived there for three or four thousand years.

So I guess you're in favor of giving your property back to the American Indians? They were here for 10's of thousands of years before we got here.

The Jews have a biblical claim to the land, and believe God promised it to them. That is the primary reason they are there as opposed to anywhere else they could be.

Religion plays a role in almost everything that happens across the globe, good and bad.

I'm saying you're lame because you are such an unbiased free thinker, yet anytime you can relate something back to mocking Christianity, the Bible, Jesus etc you jump at the chance.

It's pathetic, annoying and at this point laughable.

Please tell me that you haven't bought into the populist, revisionist history concerning the recent history of Arab-Israeli relations (1897-Present).

Since the beginning of the Zionist movement, the Arab world has refused to deal with the "Problem of Israel" in any manner short of violence (with the exceptions being limited cease-fires which have always been used by the Arab world to re-arm and re-fit the Palestinian militants).

Maybe, in the 1920s, the Arab world should have agreed with the British proposal to form an independent, self-governing state in the area which is now known as Israel. The Arabs would have held a distinct and material majority in said government. Yet, they refused as long as any Jews would be able to participate in said government.

On the other hand, Israel just spent the past five years making every concession that Yassar Arafat ever requested of them. The result: the Palestinian people elected a terrorist organization, refitted their armaments with blatant help from Iran, and continued to TARGET Israeli civilians with their rockets.

Spare me the persecution tears. I am an equal opportunity heretic. Christianity, for all its faults, isn't even on par with the ridiculousness of Islam.

Religion does play a part in almost everything, but especially so in certain cases. If we aren't talking about gay marriage, evolution, or this Israel, I have rarely (if at all) said anything about religion.

And yes, I make no apologies about mocking the role religion plays in international conflict, especially one like this one where the underlying silly beliefs on both sides created and made the problem worse.

Feel free to place me on ignore if you don't want to read it.

I bet no one in this chat has been to the holy land, but look at how heated every one is just talking about it. Imagine if you were raised Arab or Jewish, actually on the land. You would be killing one another! oh wait....

If you have been then, my comment isnt for you, as im sure some one will love to tell me

I could care less. I can think of much better reasons to fight and give my life than for some religous ideal. If they want to nuke each other over some piece of arid worthless land, so be it.

I just don't agree with the viewpoint that the Jews should be there because of religion.

And I don't agree with the nonsense that the arab aggression is due to socio-economic injustices imposed by the Israelis.

I don't thnk anybody agrees with what I think, and that is just fine by me.

I don't feel persecuted and trust me I've shed no tears.

I enjoy reading your view opinions (as wrong as they are) so I'll continue to read the stuff you post.

There are still things that can be learned from people who have differing view points.

Well i was just being dramic with my first comment, which every one seems to have quoted. I, by no means, want to be in this debate, but that was my fault. Im not going to pretend i know the answers to this problem.

Fair enough. As much as we all may disagree, none of this should be taken too seriously. Spirited debate is healthy.

Come on, dont act like you know whats going on over there based on the internet. I can pick out all kinds of sites with crazy claims about both sides. I did want to argue in my first comment that neither side has clean hands. I bet you like to list wikipedia as a source in reports too
