Lack of accredited degree?

He's a baseball coach, not a doctor.

You know what, I'm just listing it. Read my posts how I feel.

I have had enough of the "Grumpy Old Man Syndrome" on these damn message boards.

Lets have a single thread for once where someone is not feigning some sort of offense.

That came across like a Grumpy Old Man?

Frye, which one is a better recruiter?

As situational as college baseball is, I still feel it is the one sport more focused on talent rather than pure coaching. I feel a good recruiter and a manager of the game would be our best option.

You?

Maybe in the past when you could just get guys in who could hit 20+ bombs a year and out score everyone, but with all the changes there will be a lot more emphasis on coaching and strategy.

They are both great recruiters but you also need a coach that can develop the talent that the recruits have. You can have a guy that can hit .400 but is a below average fielder this is where the coaching comes into the picture. Its all about evaluating talent and getting the best out of the players you recruit.

Considering Serrano is competing with more than a dozen quality in-state schools in California plus several dozen other out-of-state programs for California talent and he still is successful should show he at least holds his own.

Considering he was able to evaluate and get talent at a start-up Irvine program shows he did not just do this because he was at traditional power Fullerton.

He has a national reputation for coaching guys up.

with Serrano you will see instant improvement in 2012 even if he has not time to bring any later signees in. Out pitching will be better even if someone who looks like me is on the mound.

We will see some improvement in 2012 and extreme improvement in 2013.

I still think some California JUCO guys will be here in fall if he takes job. He offers SEC competition, and media coverage.

But I may be fooling myself. We'll probably get a mid major guy who will be an improvement over CTR; but will take 2-3 years to see improvement.
