Lets lower the GOAL.

7 inches would be too much. Three or four inches, tops, might be worth doing. Geno is right: A lot of women's games are ugly because of terrible shooting--and UT was a glaring example. I love Summitt, but she had a lot of teams that could not shoot at all. We lost two NCAA games to Baylor, and I think our shooting percentage was below 30 percent in both of them. We won a national title against St. John's in a game that was barely watchable because the offense/shooting was so miserable.

Why make it so more women can dunk? i don't want to see them doing their best hulk hogan impression after dunking.. and Bill Walton saying...............THROW IT DOWN BIG WOMAN. THROW IT DOWN.

The smarter thing to do might be to raise the rim on the mens' game by 6 inches! One of the realities that has struck in just the past 40 years is that the average height of a male hs/college basketball player has increased significantly and yet the height of the goal has remained the same. This has resulted in a significant increase, to the detriment of the game, in my opinion, of the "vaunted" slam-dunk and less emphasis on fundamental basketball.

I would think that most women would be pleased with 7".

They're already playing with a smaller ball , might as well lower the goal .
One issue as someone already brought up is , that since high schools play on the same court it would be difficult to lower the high school goals without some modifications

Keep it where it is at. The main appeal of the women's game is that it is more like what basketball was intended to be. It is a purer version of the sport.

The NBA is a bunch of circus freaks all trying to drive to the basket and throw it down. The guys are so athletic that there is really no team defense or offensive strategy. It is all a one or two man game. I blame Michael Jordan for a lot of that but things have gotten better with the exposure of the NBA players to the international game.

As it is now a dunk is a really big accomplishment in the women's game and it needs to stay that way. No use cheapening it by making it easier.

Even if you prefer the more athletic style you have to admit there is room for the other version of the game and the women are well suited by both temperament and ability to play that style of disciplined, team basketball.
