Alabama went through several years of football purgatory in the last decade. Their record was 3-8 in 2000 and 4-9 in 2003. They went through several coaching changes before finally spending the money to make the RIGHT hire in Nick Saban who has returned them to the promise land. I have complete confidence we are going to make the right hire ( Gruden or Stoops would do the trick) and within a few years, the Vols will once again be "in the mix" for the SEC championship..

Saban went 6-6 his first year at bama. I just hope vol fans can look past a lack-luster first season if that ends up happening.

I hate Alabama. Now, that's not really pertinent to this discussion, but it always feels good to say it.:good!:

We gave Dooley time to right the ship. So any new coach we get we will obviously get his back and hope for the best. I give any new coach 2 years to fix it then its time for a new one. Gruden is gonna return us to the promise land though. Sources say.

Depends on what you mean by "fix it". Bottom line, a new coach must show improvement in year two over year one. Dooley's teams actually digressed. Bowl game with 3 SEC wins year one to 1 SEC win total in years 2 and 3. Enough said.

This roster that Dooley is leaving is immensely better than the one he inherited. Any new coach should be able to improve on Dooley's first year.

We also shouldn't look over the fact that Bama has 46 in state and 5 Tennessee players on its roster.

Out of the 60 BCS Conference quality players coming out of high school in Alabama the Tide are keeping 45+ of them and half of Tennessee's premiere high schoolers.

There's no talent in Tennessee and the 90's pipeline of Ga, Alabama, Florida recruits, has branched out to the South Carolinas, Miss, Miss STs, Arkansas, A&Ms and even Vanderbilt!
Peyton Manning, Al Wilson and Jamal Lewis types just aren't choosing UT as frequent.

Whoever we hire has to be a top 5 recruiter and we can get back to contending for championships!
