I think this is a special group of kids that are playing with a lot of heart right now. I know Pearl has pulled them together and motivated them and given them confidence but lets not forget to give the kids some of the credit. They are really leaving it all on the court right now.

On a side note I didn't realize that Watson and Smith were roommates.

The players certainly deserve the credit. They have to play the games. However, they certainly displayed none of these positive attributes until Bruce Pearl came to Knoxville.

I guess the reason for giving the Coach so much credit is because these players showed no promise until a coach showed up that knew how to develope a game plan that used the talents of the players he had. This teamed look hapless in the hands of Buzz Peterson. Coach Pearl has done much more than motivate this team. You can tell how hard he has worked on the mechanics of this team. The shot percentage of this team is tremendous. They are hitting three's and free throws. That's not all talent on the part of the players. That's a team that is practicing shots and working on fundamentals.

Without a coach focused on teaching and not just coaching, this team wouldn't even be sitting at 500 right now.

CJ's NBA prospects are iffy. Not sure if he has the explosiveness to thrive in the League. However, he is definitely a good enough player to make a solid living playing internationally.

So we have mostly the same players, actuallye LESS inside presence than under coach Peterson... which does this show, how GREAT a coach Pearl is or how HORRIBLE a coach Buzz was?

No question that we wouldn't be where we are without Pearl and I am not trying to take anything away from him at all. I just think that we need to stop and appreciate that these kids have worked hard, been willing to learn and are playing with a lot of heart. They deserve their props as well.

for sure they all deserve there props. everyone has played exceptionally well when called on.. a couple that come to mind outside of watson and lofton are Jujuan smith (my favorite player on the vols), howell plays good off the bench, asumunu is always getting a double double, and just all around team ball. Very few turnovers and always hustling, thats what i will give coach pearl props for. great second half adjustments and if we didnt turn the ball over constiently aginst OSU, we would have won.... This team will make a splash this year, bigger than they already have...

calling sweet 16 right now!!!

I'll say a little bit of answer A, and a whole lot of answer B.

Actually, the Chanticlears are 6-6 going into tonight's game against High Point, so unless Buzz has been on the DL, this is incorrect.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. I applaud the players for their playing the way they are playing right now. To say that they would be doing so without Coach Pearl leading them is really a stretch. I love everyone of the players, but really, I don't believe they need to forget their studies in college and pretend to have a major impact at the pro level. Coach Pearl is doing a great job. Just glad to have him at the helm.

I agree, the guys on the team deserve a lot of credit for their hard work. They have bought into Pearl's system and it shows. I think having Pearl as a coach gives them some extra confidence, something they didn't have with Buzz. We've already won 2 road games against good teams. That's 2 more than we won on the road last season. They just have to keep it rolling..

Gotta say that I am impressed by the man at this point, and awfully proud of the players as well! Go Vols!
