Texas and come to UT to be the new head coach. Where would you rank him amongst these potential candidates?

1. Gary Patterson
2. Jon Gruden
3. Charlie Strong
4. David Shaw
5. Butch Davis

6th. If he can't recruit and win at Texas, then how the hell would he do it in TN!?

I wouldnt even put him on a list of 25. That man has squandered away more talent than anyone I have witnessed. He plays maybe 2 tough games a year and still manages to screw it up.

Probably at the very end. Dude is getting old. Texas may be the easiest job in the nation and he's done a crap job the last few years. They should be top 5 all year, every year.

Only one I would take him over is Strong and he's nowhere near the top of my list

Mack Brown looks a lot better than he's actually been due to the fact he's in probably the most fertile recruiting ground in America.

No, I would not even consider Brown as it appears that the game has changed and left him in the rear view mirror.

No Way.
Number one: He's too old. And B: Mack Brown will be lucky if he is not out anyway. I have never seen a coach do less with so much talent. It's my opinion that he is being shown the door right now, especially considering the success that his former "coach in waiting" has had at Florida. I think many of the Texas faithful are regretting keeping 60 year-old Brown and letting a 40 year-old Muschamp go.

Mack Brown never offered a qb out of Kerrville Tivy that grew up a life long Horn fan. Mack considered him unorthodox, too small, and really only considered him to be a slot receiver.

The qb's name? Johnny F'ing Football.

But that's not the first time his recruiting has come in to question. Remember Drew Brees? He passed on him too.

Just a couple of pennies for you on a Wednesday.

Phillip Fulmer from 2004-2008 is exactly how Mack Brown goes down here.

This.

No one recruits as consistently well yet consistently disappoints their fans as much as Mack Brown.

If the stigma (or one of them) on Fulmer was that he didn't "coach up" the talent he brought in, why oh why would we want someone with the EXACT SAME issue?

At some point, Vol fans need to get over this misconception that it is gonna be OK to not take out other people's trash.

No to Butch Davis.

No to Bobby Petrino.

Hell no to Mack Brown.

It isn't a necessity that we take someone else's problem child or massive failures.

I'd rank him below Davis and just ahead of George Macintyre
