Lets see who else of our sportswriters took Clemson to win

Jimmy Hyams. Always picks against us.
I don't think I have come across any writer, including our "own" sports writers, that picked Tennessee to win. Most of them even had us losing by 10 to 14 points. The only consistent group to believe the Vols would win were the fans. It is nice to know that wins against top teams will become the norm again under Coach Heupel. We tied the 1998 National Championship team for most wins against ranked opponents in a season this year with 6 wins. It was a special season indeed!

Hyams is perhaps the most dry and boring sports guy in radio. Not sure why so many bow down to this LSU fan. Also-he’s clearly lost his sources the last few years. That and being overly cautious about throwing out info means he’s covering stuff later in the news cycle. I get that if you’re maybe print media but this guy is just a man with a radio show and that’s it.

Clemson was favored by 6 so I don't think anyone should be upset if some sportswriters also thought they would win. It was a great win and we won as underdogs - even better.
I wasn’t expecting that much from the O last night. I 100% didn’t expect the D to play like they did either.

I picked Clemson, too. I expected to lose by 14.

Sports writers seem to be the worst pickers of games for some strange reason. Maybe they know too much about teams and over think it. I would never go with their picks if betting.

Why does it matter? They're making predictions. That's their job. Most had Clemson winning.

Predicting a loss is not the same as hoping for a loss. I'm not sure why that has to be said.

Because you're talking to angry babies looking for affirmation in every nook & cranny.
Guess they think Vegas had Clemson cause Vegas just hates TN.

I don't blame the sportswriters for their picks. I expected Clemson to beat us. Was great to see the opposite! But man it was not a sure thing we were going to win until the 4th quarter. Clemson didn't just roll over and quit they played hard.

Why are people surprised? We were playing a team that has been in the spotlight continuously for years. We were without our 3 top offensive weapons and fielding a questionable defense. Clemson had a great D all season and looked like they had found their upcoming QB. Even the fans that say they thought we’d win convincingly are lying. It was a great win for the program.

In all honesty, if forced to put money on it; I would have picked Clemson. I don’t think anyone can say with a straight face that they expected the result we saw last night or the showing defensively.

Not a sportswriter but ESPN FPI gave Tennessee a 57.9% chance of winning.

ESPN loves Tennessee
