I'm sure Freak can pull it up. But I remember several on here were saying that CBP was not the best choice and Mike Hamilton made a mistake.

Well I don't remember who it was hat, but I remember some of the usual naysayers saying how this was not a good hire.

I'll be the first to say that I thought Buzz wasn't treated fairly with respect to the search committe, etc, but I liked Pearl from the get-go.

I'll be honest. I kind of wondered if Pearl just got hot at the right time last year and ended up cashing in on it. Of course alot of that had to do with not caring enough about Vols basketball to really look into Pearls past success before passing judgement.

Well I appreciate your honesty but you were not even on the board when the "CBP is the wrong hire" threads were being posted.

I can't remember if I posted this these thoughts, or if I mentioned them in conversations on the subject. 1. Pearl, Lutz, and Anderson would have all been good choices. 2. I was of the opinion that UT should have gauged the interest of Bob Huggins, Bobby Gonzalez, and Gregg Marshall. 3. Mike Anderson will never coach in the SEC as long as Frank Broyles is the AD at Arkansas.

Yeah I would say your right about Anderson. The Nolan Richardson connection is to tight and Coach Broyles or "the white haired devil" as Richardson called him will not stand for it and he is very influential.

At the time, I thought Buzz got a raw deal, and was a better coach than record indicated... but once coach Pearl was hired, and he convinced Chris Lofton to stay, I knew good things were to come.

As a side note, I now know that Peterson was doing a horrible job as head coach of the UT basketball team...

i said the whole time that Pearl was a great choice, but i didnt expect this kind of turn around so fast.

I don't remember for sure but I would imagine I was pro Pearl for the following reasons:

1) my choice was Mike Anderson - outstanding performance so far as a head coach. BP style very similar so I was probably in favor of BP since Anderson was out of the picture.

2) BP just got done beating Bama in the NCAAs. Anybody that beats Bama is all-right with me :biggrin2:

I don't remember who all it was either but I def remember it. I hope Freak or one of the other Mods can pull it up for us. I would be curious who it was for correlation sake.

You'll have to excuse me. I thought being a Vol fan for 20 years and having had an opinion when Pearl was hired was the only requirrement for posting on this thread.

i've said it all along that i liked pearl and he was a good fit i also said at the beginning of the season i thought we could make the tourney. so far the only good move hamilton has made.

The second thread had a "Right Choice?" thought to the subject... HOWEVER, I really haven't found anyone that had anything bad to say about CBP. Hell, Chong (Vols2345) was already claiming we were headed to the Big Dance! You're going to look like a psychic there buddy!!!

I really didn't care as long as Anderson stayed at UAB....Blazer basketball under Anderson is great!!! :biggrin2:

Living here in Indiana I've heard about Bruce since his Southern Indian days and knew he was a great coach, I for one was all for it. :)

I cant lie guys i was pretty upset when Buzz got the ax, but i never said anything negative about Pearl when he was hired, i also didnt expect this quick of a turnaround

I have a cousin who went to UWM and he told me that we stole a really good coach. He said Pearl lit a fire up under everyone's chair up there challenging the whole AD and all sports. He said it was like a funeral the day they got the news.
