Scrap Yard Dawgs (Woodlands, TX) drafted Lexi in the 3rd round making her the 19th pick overall. Congrats to her! Well, we get to watch Lexi unleashing her sweet swings at the professional level now. Sure, the NPF has only six teams, and the players don't make a lot of money but it's a professional sports league nonetheless. It's where only the best of the best, the true cream of the crop belong. The players have worked extremely hard and sacrificed a ton all their lives to get to that stage. The epitome of hard work, determination, perseverance, class, self-sacrifice, athleticism, etc. :)

No other players from TN got drafted. Florida had 4 drafted, and LSU had three.

Scrap Yard Dawgs just recently acquired our own Maddi Shipman from USSSA Pride through a trade negotiation which means that Lexi and Maddi will be playing on the same pro softball team this summer. I'm definitely gonna follow the Scrap Yard Dawgs now!

How about starting a thread and keeping it updated?

I know very little about softball but love to keep up with our Ladys. Bet there are others on the forum who would appreciate you doing so too.

Smallvol...you need to go to a game. You live in Knoxville, right? Go to the Oklahoma game on the 23rd, or one of the games in the Auburn series coming up the 30th, sit along the 3rd base line behind the team dugout, or sit along the 1st base side so you can see into the dugout, and get into it with the crowd. Go wild when Lexi hits a home run. The players REALLY appreciate fan support.

Smallvol, I'll see you at Sherri Parker Lee stadium for OU game and Auburn series plus all the upcoming NCAA tournament games. You're gonna love it! If you have small vols (pun intended) in your house, bring them along to the games. They'll enjoy it immensely too! It's a family-friendly atmosphere at the stadium with a ton of exciting things going on to greatly entertain us the fans. Tickets are cheap with general admission selling at $10 a piece. Go Vols!

Nobody drafted Gaffin that is a huge surprise.

Not a surprise at all, players that have committed to USA Softball are not drafted because they play for Team USA for the length of the NPF season. Money is a little better with Team USA.

Jeff, I went to one softball game in my life...was totally lost. There are so many things as to swings, pitches, throws, etc I read in the threads, and I'm going whaaaaaat?:ermm: but going wild when Lexie hits a home run even I COULD handle:).

I think I will try the 23rd, we have out of state company the 30th. I will the one sitting there looking confused and saying, "what's happening?" But don't think this exempts you from starting the professional softball thread.

As to small vols, the small vol is my avatar, (it's a play on all Vol.) Her "aunt" made the cover of the Torch years ago when they asked for fans to mail in shots of their UT-loving pets. She was wearing a UT jersey with the number 1 on it. We were quite proud she made the cover! So SmallVol#1 it is:yes:.

...I will the one sitting there looking confused and saying, "what's happening?"...

Just remember, when a player in orange hits the ball...that's good. When a player not in orange hits the ball...that's baaad. When a player in orange catches the ball...that's good. When a player not in orange catches the ball...that's baaad.

Be sure and catch the antics of the fans in the top of the section on the first base side, next to the press box. I forget the section number, but these fans usually are decked out in costumes and lead cheers. I have spoken to them a few times although I don't know them personally.

Yeah...I can do that, but I've just been rereading the ATM thread and I need a translater:eek:hmy:. I'll find a friendly soul at the game and pump them. Beware.

I can translate! But I won't be at the game. It's a long way for me. I may go to the SEC tournament in Starkville and if TN hosts a regional and/or super-regional, I will attend those.

Your canine friend has quite a pedigree going on there with official certification from the Torch magazine!

Well, I'm just one voice, one opinion; Look at all these WBB-related threads we have here, and we just don't have enough for the softball program/players IMO for all their outstanding accomplishments and the number of SB fans we have. I just try to do my part in making their presence known and support the team.

What does USA Softball pay? I'm curious. I hope Abbott, with her talent, has been able to make some decent money. We should have won the title when we had her--major blown opportunity.

Chair, that was as big an upset, as when Goliath lost to little David and his sling shot...Poor Ralph kept closing his eyes that final game...Opportunity lost.

Why is this draft done during the season & not after like all other sports? That's weird to draft players while the season is still being played out.

A surprise to me had no clue USA basketball paid more than the Pro leagues. If that is the case they are missing out on Overstreet.
