MEMRI: Egyptian Cleric Safwat Higazi: Our Generation Will Be the One to Liberate Jerusalem and "to Be Martyred on the Threshold of Jerusalem"

Following are excerpts from a public address
by Egyptian cleric Safwat Higazi, which aired
on Al-Aqsa TV on June 10, 2011:

Safwat Higazi: Jerusalem will not be liberated
through conferences, accords, or agreements.
Jerusalem will be liberated only through a sacred
march by millions. Millions of young Arabs will
set out from all Arab countries in order to liberate
Jerusalem once again. This will happen in the near
future, Allah willing, whether people like it or not.

Before the [Egyptian] revolution, we would say:
"Never mind if we do not live to see victory and
the liberation of Jerusalem. The important thing
is that we lay another brick on that path. Our
children, our grandchildren, or our great-grandchildren
will liberate Jerusalem."

After the Egyptian revolution, I do not say this
anymore. Allah willing, we will be liberating
Jerusalem ourselves,
and we will pray in
Jerusalem, Allah willing. We will be the ones
to be martyred on the threshold of Jerusalem.

We shall not wait for our children, grandchildren,
or great-grandchildren. Time is pressing. We will
be liberating Jerusalem, Allah willing.

Ah, ther refreshing breeze from the Arab spring.

lot fewer Israelis. If this is going to be a war of attrition, they have to increase their ratio.

No sympathy for the people? Their goal is unattainable - they have my sympathy in that regard.

Jordan to Oppose PA Statehood Bid - Defense/Middle East - Israel News - Israel National News

The Hashemite kingdom will vote against the Palestinian
Authority's bid for a unilateral declaration of statehood
by the United Nations in September, UAE-based al-
Bayan reported Wednesday. "Jordan's top national
interests will be in danger if the Palestinian Authority
declares statehood unilaterally – especially in everything
related to the issue of refugees, water, Jerusalem, and
the borders," a senior jordanian official told the paper
on condition of anonymity.

The high-ranking official added a unilateral PA
declaration of statehood at this time would be in Israel's
best interest, as it wants the state to be
established "within the borders of the separation fence"
– a move that would effectively erase the border
between the Jordan and Judea and Samaria, which
the kingdom vehemently rejects.

Israel, however, has made it clear it intends to maintain
control of the Jordan Valley - and with it the Israeli side
of the Jordan river - as a necessary security buffer,
leading some observers to suggest Aman is
mischaracterizing Israel's stance in order to dilute
criticism of looking after its own interests vis-a-vis
the PA.

First Temple findings reinforce Jewish Jerusalem | The Jewish Chronicle

In recent years Palestinians, including leaders of the
Western-backed Palestinian Authority, have claimed
in growing numbers that there was never a Jewish
Temple in Jerusalem.

The new finds mean that not only can Israel cite
archaeological evidence of the Second Temple but
that it can also boast a major a complex of excavations
from the First Temple, built some five centuries earlier.

The new excavations, which will open to the public
later this month, give visitors the chance to see, and
walk inside, a construction that is thought to have
been commissioned by the king who built the First
Temple -- Solomon...

Why is it that the moslems must have Jersalem??

Jerusalem isn't even mentioned in the koran.

They have Mecca and Medina where it is forbidden
for a non-moslem to even set foot, under penalty of
death, so what is the motivation to control Jerusalem?
