Another good reason to send the UN packing.

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. – Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi will set foot on U.S. soil for the first time next month when he comes to address the U.N. General Assembly. Now he wants to put down stakes in the middle of American suburbia.

Plans to set up a tent and allow him to stay at a Libyan-owned estate in this upscale community 12 miles north of Manhattan, were attacked Monday by neighborhood residents and public officials, particularly after the hero's welcome extended by Libya last week to the lone man convicted in the 1988 bombing of Pan American Flight 103.

The attack over Lockerbie, Scotland, thought to be the work of Libyan intelligence, killed all 259 people on board the flight, including 33 from New Jersey. Abdel Baset al-Megrahi was freed from a life sentence in a Scottish jail and returned to Libya on compassionate grounds because he is dying of cancer.

"Gadhafi is a dangerous dictator whose hands are covered with the blood of Americans and our allies," said U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman, whose district includes Englewood. He promised there would be "hell to pay" if the U.S. State Department violates a long-standing deal barring the dictator from staying at the Libyan estate.

State department officials said no decision had been made on the issue.

The fact that the UN allows him any involvement into its institution at all, is why it will never be legitimate in my eyes.

I'm surprised that motormouth moammar hasn't yet received a white house invite since Barry and Mo's son are so close and seeing how two of Barry's long time spiritual advisors, Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright are tighter than ticks will Mo.

Colonel Qaddafi, the Libyan leader, quoted by the state press agency, said: "Our confrontation with America used to be like confronting a fortress from outside. Today we have found an opening to enter the fortress and to confront it from within."

Flash back to June 14, 2008:

Today, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi pledged the Arab world's support to Obama.
MISNA and Religion of Peace reported:

“Africa and the Arab world are ready to back and finance Barack Obama as long as he helps the oppressed populations”, said the Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi, calling however on the US democratic presidential candidate to not always defend Israel at all costs, as all American presidents have done so far.

Kadhafi, speaking in occasion of the 38th anniversary of the expulsion of the Americans from an old base near Tripoli, also urged the government of Tel Aviv to accept the prospective of cohabiting “with the Palestinians in one state” that could be called ‘Israstine’ (also ‘Isratine’, according to another version).

June 11, 2008.

“There are elections in America now. Along came a black citizen of Kenyan African origins, a Muslim, who had studied in an Islamic school in Indonesia. His name is Obama,” said Gadhafi in little-noticed remarks he made at a rally marking the anniversary of the 1986 U.S. air raid on his country.

(Reagan’s bombing strike on Libya was in retaliation for involvement in a German discotheque bombing that was frequented by U.S. military.)

“All the people in the Arab and Islamic world and in Africa applauded this man,” continued Gadhafi. “They welcomed him and prayed for him and for his success, and they may have even been involved in legitimate contribution campaigns to enable him to win the American presidency.

“We are hoping that this black man will take pride in his African and Islamic identity, and in his faith, and that [he will know] that he has rights in America, and that he will change America from evil to good, and that America will establish relations that will serve it well with other peoples, especially the Arabs,” Gadhafi said.

Muammar Gaddafi, the leader of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya:

"We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe, without swords, without guns, without military conquest.

"The 50 million in Europe will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades.

"Allah mobilises the Muslim nation of Turkey and adds it to the European Union.

"That's another 50 million Muslims.

"There will be 100 million Muslims in Europe.

"Albania, which is a Muslim country has already entered the EU.

"Bosnia which is a Muslim country has already entered the EU. Fifty per cent of its citizens are Muslims.

"Europe is in a predicament and so is America.

"They should agree to become Islamic in the course of time or else declare war on the Muslims."
