Does this do anything for him? Does this help? Hurt? It would make for an interesting ticket for November.

McCain is almost under the radar, but I think he is still going to make some noise. Those endorsements he picked up yesterday were pretty big and if Huckabee gets knocked back, he's the next in line to pick up the conservative vote.

I don't think there are 100 people outside the state of Connecticut that give a damn about what Joe Lieberman thinks

I must be one of those 100 then...

I could see this helping more in the general than in the primaries - I don't see conservative Reps lining up McCain because a moderate Dem endorses him.

I'm on fire with the exaggerations today. Your average voter, especially in the south, probably said "who?" when they heard this news. I am basing this on my belief that the vast majority of the people in this country are grossly under informed.

A few independent voters in New Hampshire are likely to know who he is.

Which is why, in the end, it probably won't have much effect on him. Also, I'm not sure a McCain-Lieberman ticket is what the country is looking for right now.

It really won't matter. I know people think the Iraq War is going to be main issue witht he voters, but I think it will be immigration 9illegal, that is). Mccain is too soft, but so is Rudy, Romney, Huckabee, etc. Fred's got the right ideas but had hired the worst campaign staff known to man.

It's not the staff. It's him. He has a very good staff. But it's hard to inject energy in someone that clearly has no desire for it.

Isn't that more a testament to the lack of inspiration from the candidate? I mean he has to now reform his image in IA by getting out of the car and finally shaking hands. God forbid he has to touch the people he's begging for a vote from.

McCain will be shot down soon enough

Good guy, ok views, but a poor politician

Drudge tried yesterday. No NYT story after all...yet. He's peaking at the right time. He's picked up almost all of Rudy's support in NH since Rudy's bailed. Looks to be the same thing in IA as well. I think the 'establishment' is being forced to swallow some pride and take McCain to stop Huck.

I think you are 100% correct. Suddenly a moderate member of the Gang of 14 is being spun as Ronald Reagan. Ain't politics great?

Well they see Huck surging and really cannot trust him. He's a moderate to liberal Baptist in theology. He was for big government in AR. And you know he's unelectable nationwide with his posturing to a religious base. Mitt's sliding and now his comments about daddy George marching with MLK in Grosse Point, MI are proving to be false. Mitt's turning into a Bill Clinton with his story telling skills.

McCain still gives the establishment what they want on the war on terror and Iraq and he's big on cutting pork. With him the establishment knows what they get. And looking at the Fox News poll from yesterday, he has everything in the world to be happy about. He hasn't seen this good of numbers since he jumped in.
